I really never understood that pick....just like Wright the year before. Hes a solid player, but hes never going to get minutes on this team behind Haslem and Walker. I assume Riley wanted Luther Head like every other heat fan but he could of at least taken someone who had a chance to make it on the floor.
wright is still llike only 20

Big Fella showing big hints of a slowdown

He has loomed over the NBA for 14 years.

At first, we wondered what he would do if he ever figured out how to play. Then we got the answer: Domination that was so complete, it was almost scary. And now we enter another phase, one that has arrived sooner than most of us thought it would: Are Shaquille O'Neal's days of dominance over?

Shaq just turned 34, and unless he starts shrinking 30 years early, he will still be a major force in the league for a few years. In a league of giants, it takes a seriously large man to be recognized by everybody as The Big Fella. He will always be The Big Fella. He will go into the Hall of Fame as The Big Fella, just as Magic is still Magic. But there are several signs that, on the court, Shaq is no longer the same Shaq.

He is averaging 20.1 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks for Miami, the lowest numbers of his career. That's partly because he has been hurt and is only averaging 30.4 minutes. And it's partly because he has been playing himself into shape. But what if he is only a 30-minute-a-night player now?

Despite the lower number of minutes, Shaq is committing as many turnovers as normal and, he is committing more fouls  not more fouls per minute, but more fouls per game, even though he is playing the fewest minutes of his career. That is the sign of a player who can't physically keep up with his opponent, who gets beaten often and must make up for it by fouling.

That article proves one thing...the guy hasn't watched SHAQ play this year.

What a crap article.

The guy should really see him play if he is gonna comment.

If you don't agree that Shaq has lost a step, maybe it's you who hasn't watched a game.

So says the guy that in the other thread said "I hate the heat".

predictable.

nobody said that he hasn't lost a step. He is not the 1997 SHAQ. But he is still the most dominating big man in the game, and playing the best basketball he has played since he joined the Heat and the best he has played in 4 years.

You forget that when I watched the NBA, Shaquille O'Neal was my team's center for 4 years.

Right.

he is not that guy anymore...but he is still damn good and the most dominant big man in the league.

he is also playing better than he has played in 4 years.

Keep in mind, Jermaine O'Neal averaged 3.9 points in 70 games his 4th year in the league. It wasn't until his 5th season that he started to blossom. And he really arrived in his 6th.

Obviously I'm not comparing him and with our guys. Only keeping in mind that not all HS players make an impact early on.

As for the Simien pick, the NBA draft was 6/28/05. Haslem was a free agent, flirting with Cleveland and didn't re-sign until 7/13/05. We made the Walker/Posey/Williams deals on 8/03/06. Can't fault Riley for taking the big forwrd when we had no big men under contract and Mourning's return wasn't assured.

I did like the Simien pick....he was a very good value pick at that point of the draft. But in hindsight it was probably a waste. The odds on him getting significant playing time over the next couple years are small.

I like the comparison of Wright to O'neal....thats exactly my point. I have no clue how good the kid is....he may be the next TMac for all I know. But again in all likelyhood its not going to be with the Heat. Unless he makes significant progress and gets minutes next year he probably wont get the chance to prove himself with the Heat.

What?

Even though we were missing SHAQ, ZO and Posey....we should have beaten them today...

They made shots down the stretch...congrats to them...it wasn't their fault we didn't have those guys.

Great game by the Cavs. Especially Marshall and Jones down the stretch.

it was especially entertaining to watch Wade and Lebron duel.....Lebron just got a little more help...

Great game though...that was fun.

Okay i am as pist as i have ever been for a heat game this season and i havent been that pist at all for almost any right now. I just hated this hit felt like now lebron did it... i just hate it and i hate shaq for being such a lazy *** since hes been for the heat. I think shaq is a lazy *****.. he doenst play for the most ***** reasons ive ever herd of and i now everyones gonna get mad at me and scream at me but im just stating whats on my mind. When he plays it looks likes he trying like half of what he could be he shows no passion when hes playing. Alonzo is out because hes actually hurt... Shaq has just another of his little cute injuries that keep em out. Antoine Walker is another player.. i just cant stand him. I try to like him because i like those type of players that talk and play with passion. But hes the biggest ball hog ive seen. When he gets the ball i scream no oh no oh no stop please and then he steps out of bounds or he shoots another of his crazy shots. And Derek Anderson has really plain out sucked. While the other Anderson has been very very good and consistent. Really impressed by him. I still have to say im impressed how good we did without the lazy *** shaq, Alonzo who brings all the heart and passion (He's going to be a HUGE part in the playoffs) and James Posey. But still this game hurt alot especailly when it become a wade vs lebron thing and it just hurts.
