The Million Dollar Question.....

I disagree with the entire premise of this thread on several counts:

1. He threw nice passes yesterday while under pressure and in fact while getting hit.

2. I have seen him thrown lousy passes while he has time to set up a 4 course meal - including dessert.

3. He has thrown death balls and gotten his receivers killed - for no apparent reasons.

4. He has thrown magical passes that his receivers have dropped.

5. The offensive scheme (like Phille's) is set for quick hitches, screen passes, misdirection, play action - all to help Ryan get rid of it QUICK!

6. The issue is Ryan growing the F up and playing like a top pro every week - then we will be in big games.

7. The million dollar question is - Will Philbin be such a dry piece of toast as a head coach that we will all choke to death ?

I'll agree he made faster decisions.

I thought Tennehill was one of the higher rated QB's under pressure? I'm pretty sure i read that stat last year.

Not discounting RT's game yesterday at all. But, any NFL qb carves up a bad defense with a lot of time and open receivers. So it really isn't a million dollar question.

Against the blitz. He's been very good over his career against the blitz, one of the best in the league, in fact.

As I said, he's struggled badly when teams are able to pressure him with four rushers.

Agreed. I thinks great against the blitz. People tend to equate that with standard pressure

Well, then you're not watching the games. I'm not saying he panics, I'm saying when he's under that pressure he doesn't see the field like other great QBs do. Proof is in the pudding. Case in point...yesterday's raider game
I asked if you were saying he panics under pressure and you reply that he doesn't. How does that infer I am not watching what he's doing? Are you thinking rationally or just shooting **** from the hip? How do you get that from this?

QBs tend to play better when they have more time. If your trying to say that Tannehill panics under pressure you're incorrect.

I'd be willing to bet most QB's have a hard time throwing to WR's/TE's when they are pressured by only four defensive linemen allowing 7 defensive players to drop into coverage. Seven defensive players covering 3 or 4 offensive players isn't a good matchup for the offense. Especially if the QB doesn't have time to throw.

i will have to go back and look at the tape but more than anything yesterday i think it was oakland played more man vs zone and tannehill being so new to this offense isn't comfortable yet knowing with these route combinations etc where the holes in the zone down the field are...he was very decisive yesterday and to my eye saw a lot of man looks...but i will have to take another look to back that up

zone wise i think it comes with more reps...the more familiar he gets with coverages vs our offense the more he can get the ball out quick and exploit them
