i remember that clint malachuk play the night it happened and was never so disturbed by a sports injury... that trainer absolutely saved his life by practically strangling him with a towel, so it was said... surprised that kind of thing doesn't happen more often in hockey... just awful.. ... did he ever play again after that?

They also said that if he was on the other end of the ice, away from the training rooms and ambulance he would've died. Scary stuff.

Wow. These are some painful-looking injuries.
What's the worst sports injury any of you have personally had?

Mine was when I was 16 playing third base. The batter hit a fly ball just high enough. I back pedaled while the left fielder came running in for it. He ran full speed through my left arm, breaking the elbow backwards and flattening me to the ground. When I opened my eyes, he was looking down at me, waiving and yelling for some help. He told me not to get up. I was still hazy from the impact and didn't know what was wrong since I didn't yet feel the pain. As I came to my senses, I started to get up and saw my left arm bent backwards in a way God never intended it to bend. Then the sick feeling hit me that I had seriously damaged myself in a potentially lasting way.

Does anybody remember Cincinnati DT Tim Krumrie in the Super Bowl? Watching his ankle flop around as he rolled on the turf was stomach-turning.
