The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

Went to the game Saturday and got some great pics, will post them up as soon as I resize them.

Jeter has my vote. Although if Ortiz didn't get hurt and the Sox didn't fall flat it would have been interesting to see if Ortiz would have been able to win it (although if he didn't I wouldn't mind if Jeter did, because he's having a career year).

EDIT NOTE: I don't want to turn this into a debate of whether or not a DH should win it or whatever. I was just thinking/typing out loud.
jeter won't get it but i'm sure Ortiz will get robbed for the 2nd year in a row

Jeter extends his hit streak to 21 games, Randy wins 17 despite looking average, Joe Torre moves into third place on the Yankees all time manager wins list, and the magic number shrunk to 10. All is well in Yankees land!

By the way, Michael Kay's mother died, that is why he hasn't been doing games or his radio show. Sad indeed to lose a mother and if we don't see him for a little while longer no one could hold that against him!

anyone read that article on ESPN with Ortiz crying about the MVP. Give me a friggin break. I have lost all respect for this guy. Only concerned about his stats and himself. Has Boston been eliminated yet???????? Yet this guy is just worried about himself and personal awards!

Someone should also tell Ortiz there is more to baseball than home runs and RBI's. If he wants an MVP so bad, then pick up a glove and play first base since you know thats what it takes to get the award!

Jeter will win it this year and its gonna be great. Arod and Jeter back to back with Ortiz playing 2nd fiddle to both each year.

We are also about to take over best record in the AL and get homefield there as well. Which will be huge. And don't be shocked if DETROIT misses the playoffs here. Minny is about to pass them for 1st place and Chicago isn't far behind. They are dropping big time.

Arod has won the MVP twice based purely on stats..

well yeah, everyone wins the award purley on stats. I have NO PROBLEM giving the award to a guy who's team is in last or not in the playoffs. Hell, everyone ripped me here a few weeks back for saying Soriano should be in the Top 3 in the NL voting if not 1st (at the time Howard didn't explode yet). Well, I guess Ortiz agrees with my logic that its jus stats and making the playoffs doesn't matter.

I do have a problem giving it to a DH though.

you wouldn't if jeter was a DH

sure I would! :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno:

No DH should win the MVP. It's a very rare circumstance that a DH should win it. Very rare.

DH is part of the game.. If stats is how you win what fielding stats is everyone looking at..

I don't know about his MVP in tex but he didin't deserve it last year. last year Grape Ape did but w/ his team going down the toilet and w/ jeter guiding the yanks to another Div title despite all the injuries and stepping up when ARod couldn't he deserves the MVP but you know what's great? jeter doesn't publicly whine about the MVP race, he's worried about team goals and he dosnt' throw his teammates under the bus trying to get more MVP votes.
