The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

Well it's the truth. Papelbon had 6 blown saves, Rivera had 3. Other than that Papelbon had a better season than Rivera. So I guess that's 1 prospect that did well this year.

Yeah and Papelbon also admitted the reason he isn't pitching the rest of the season is because this team is done. Nice attitude!

he blew back to back saves to TB and KC in August that all but killed your season.

I'm sorry I can't qualify him as "clutch" or as having a big year. Decent year, but not big. In August against the cupcakes he fell apart. Nuff said.

Hey I never said he was clutch. But he did have a big year an ERA of under 1 in about 70 innings is impressive.

And for the record I would take Rivera any day of the week in a big spot over Papelbon.

So what? For arguement sake if the Yankees were out of the playoffs and Rivera was hurt would you want him out there pitching in meaningless games? Come on. The kid is 25 and is a big part of the Sox future, I would have been pissed if he was still pitching after his injury. The Sox were lucky that his injury wasn't as bad as it looked.

Thanks I know. I've always been here to dish it out and also take it. You can say anything you want about me but I never run and hide. I take it all.

Actually Finkle, I can't deny you that, your the only one still here standing strong talking baseball even though Red Sox have been done since the beginning of August. The rest of your friends are hiding in witness protection praying that the Yankees lose in the playoffs so they can show their faces again!

.

He choked when it counted. TB, KC, and even the Sunday Night game during the Boston Massacre II when with 2 outs he coudn't get Jeter out.

That stretch alone told me enough about his character as a ballplayer. Decent pitcher, but didn't live up to the hype in crunch time.

Oh, IF/WHEN the Yanks lose in the playoffs everyone will come out of the wood-work. RI boy. Wheeties boy. The usual cupcakes who go into hiding when the Sox tank and start and end every argument with 2004!  Yet tell yankee fans NOT to live in the past :sidelol: :sidelol:

Thanks for the props (and I really do mean it). Like I said since day 1, I don't have anything to hide and when I dish it out I will be back here to take it.

I do actually enjoy talking baseball with you and MikeO even though things get heated pretty much 98% of the time.

They weren't TECHNICALLY out of the playoffs until tonight.

2004!! (your guys are the ones who always bring it up) Never say die!!

No need for anything to ever get heated. Im always right, and when you don't agree with me your wrong. :D :D :D

It's a simple concept.

But dude, he's healthy, it looked bad but it was NOTHING. He should be out there pitching. Schilling's out there, Beckett's out there, why isn't Papelbum? I mean look at how many games Timlin has blown since he's taken over. Whether he's come in for a save or in a tie he's made Red Sox fans life miserable these past 2 months and Papelbum should have been out there getting the outs the Red Sox needed in a lot of spots!

I disagree, I think the kid is going to be special and I don't question his character at all. He did pitch the biggest innings in the 2005 playoffs vs. ChiSox and was very impressive. I really don't think the kid is soft and I would give the ball to him in a big spot any time after Schilling. Remember before he gave up the big hit to Jeter (which he made a good pitch on but Jeter just does what he always does in that spot)he got out of a huge jam in the 8th with bases loaded and 0 outs. But hey agree to disagree, we'll see what he has in the future.

But I agree the TB and KC games were pretty bad, especially the KC game.

Seriously though their season was done after the Yankee series.

Mike, like I said before things would be boring without you on this board.

That was mid-august. They still had a chance for the Wild Card then. You cant roll over and play dead in Mid-August.

That is weak. I expect better from Sox Fans. Seriously, you guys are better than that. You guys threw up the white flag faster than FRANCE ever did.

It's the truth though bro. All the other Red Sox fans in here come with the tough talk but when the ship starts to sink they jump off. I mean in the beginning of the year Red Sox nation was in full force on finheaven, now we're down to you and 2 other Red Sox fans, 1 of which still doesn't know if likes the Mets or the Red Sox!
