The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

Ok, for the 10,000,000,000,000,000th time. PHILLY DOESN"T WANT TOP PROSPECTS IN RETURN FOR ABREU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They just want him off the books. You could probably get him for guys in your farm system you have never heard of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Philly wants to move Tom Gordon now too, and they just signed the guy this winter. Philly wants to clear payroll in a big way. They aren't looking for anything in return.

If the Sox do spend that kind of money on Abreu, all I gotta say is welcome to the club boys. You can't be badmouthing the Yanks for having an open check book when you guys go do the same thing.

Actually I'm hoping my Angels go hard after Abreu.God knows my Halos could use some power(may be the biggest understatement of all-time)to help/protect Vlad.

MikeO's right, Abreu can be had for next to nothing. The Phillies want his contract gone and there's only a handful of teams that can afford his services, therefore, those teams will low ball the Phillies knowing that there aren't many options out there for him. Another thing you guys forget is Abreu has a full no trade. If he knows the Yankees want his services, he could make the Phillies make it happen, especially considering he has a home in NY! Either way he can be had and will be had....for cheapers then he's worth!

I could see that happening for sure. Put Abreu in LF, Anderson as the DH. The line up would be tough.

That be great with me,GA's got some nagging injuries(tendinitius-shoulder/knee)so not playing in the field would obviously help him be more productive.

I really believe we need to add some sort of "power bat" to our line-up to compete with the AL's best in the Yanks and both Sox.I think our pitching can match up with the best them.

If that's true than why didn't the Yankees get him already? I'm sorry Philly isn't going to take average players for the guy no matter how bad they want him gone, they're going to command at least 1 top prospect or a good major league player for him (see: Arod/Soriano trade).

I don't know I just find it hard to believe that they're just going to dump Abreu for anyone. But hey it wouldn't be the first time I'd wrong. I guess we'll see.

Because of the Yanks add $31 mill to their payroll people like YOU flip out and act like they just lost a kidney. They are trying to show a little restraint and not turn the MLB world upside down with hatefull rage from the teams that can't afford to pay their heating bills each month let alone add a player.

Philly just wants him gone. They aren't asking for a lot. Why is this such a hard notion to understand? It's a salary dump. Nothing new in this sport!

Philly has called NY about Abreu and told them they don't want Hughes. That is all you need to know. Philly cant move this guy fast enough. Offer their owner a good steak dinner and a bag of balls and he's yours.

:sidelol:

Show me one of my posts where I ever flipped out that the Yankees spend money. I'd love for you to find one because I've never done that. :shakeno:

EDIT: The only time that I could remember bringing up the Yankees and their payroll is when you and the other Yankee fans were killing the Sox fans that they lost in the 1st round of the ALDS last year saying a team spending $200 million shouldn't laugh at another team losing in the first round when the Yanks are about to do the same thing. Hardily flipping out, I could care less how much they spend, especially since my team is either 2nd or 3rd in spending.

The HOT rumor going around at the all star game is Tom Gordon being traded to the Yanks.

Man, if that's true I hope the Yankees pull the trigger. Aside from facing Papi Gordon would be a God-send. Then we can use Farnsworth to blow another by Papi since that's the only guy he's gotten out in big situations!

He'd be great for the reg season but he's a terribl postseason pitcher but I'd want him back to eat some inning in the reg season and give us a fresher pen which we'll need to make the postseason this year.

It wouldn't be a bad move for the Yankees, as Gordon has been a good set up man for them in the past.

I think it would be funny for them to pick Gordon back up after saying he wasn't worth 3 years or the money due to his age and instead giving big money and years to Farnsworth. But hey they got to make the move to try and help out their pen.
