The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

Suck that we lost our third in a row and we're struggling up North but it really sucks that A-Rod can't celebrate being the youngest player to 450 homeruns cause of all the hating he's catching in NY. I don't know if Yankee fans will ever appreciate A-Rod! Anyways, congrat to A-Rod, Yankees fans need to chill on him and let him do his thing!

He deserves to be criticized, he's been awful and even when he "won" his MVP last year he was still spotty in the big spot. For a player as great as he is he doen'ts come through often enough. W/ that said priror to the 3 error game I thought he was playing well, hopefully he doesn't turn in to the next Knoblauch w/ all these throwing errors.

Congrats to ARod on 2K hits and 450 HRs, we need him more than ever and we need him to get over this throwing problem.

You really need to calm down bro.

I am calm. You just need to realize you are wrong!

but it isn't costing them games. Last night they loset 7-3 (arod had the 3 rbi's mind you) his error didn't cost them the game though. It isn't helping, but they were down 4-0 off the bat.

If you actually look deep into the games (something you clearly don't do just by reading what you type) you would see most of his errors take place when the team is already down and probably in no position to win. Sure, the errors don't help. But when your down say 6-1 in the 7th inning, that error isn't the reason you lost the game.
and what about on Thursday when they were up 3-0? Ground ball to A-Rod and he throws the ball away at home. Toronto goes on to score 4 that inning and take the lead, eventually going on to win the game. If it wasn't for A-Rod's error, Toronto would have never had a lead to begin with.

Man, all this A-Rod hate makes me laugh. At the end of the day, I'd rather go to war (in baseball terms, no pun intended) with A-Rod on my team then on another team. I may be in the minority but that's just me!

For what it's worth I'd take Alex any day of the week.NY fans should back off before they get what they wish for( A-Rod trade).IMO NY fans are so use to winning that any mediocre play by A-Rod and the fans get on him.He has a big contract, but that's not his fault so deal with it.Btw imo it would be hard to trade Alex anyways with his "deal" unless the Yanks pay for some of his salary.

I agree, I'd like to go to war with A-Rod on your team too

All joking aside, A-Rod is a great player, he's just in a major slump right now and it's being extremely over played in the media (either on TV during the games, newspapers, radio, ESPN whatever). The boos hurt the guy and really mess with his head that's why I don't understand why the fans continue to boo him (especially in Monday's game when the team was winning). A-Rod has a lot of mental problems right now and maybe being on the road is the best thing for him.

When you make more money in half a season than the entire Florida Marlins team will for the year, there's just going to be extra criticism, whether it's fair or not. I'd happily take A-Rod on the Mets. The guy's one of the five best players in baseball, and for people to nitpick about his defense and claim he's costing the team ballgames is insane. In a down year, he's still a tremendous run producer.

Personally, I don't think Yankee fans have ever really warmed to A-Rod. I think he's generally been viewed as a guy who's excellent at his job, and so it's nice to have him around, but that's it. It's not like Mariano Rivera or Derek Jeter, whom the average Yankee fan would lie down in traffic for. Rodriguez, for better or worse is viewed as a mercenary. So it's easy to turn on him when things aren't going well. The whole thing about his clutch hitting ignores the fact that he leads the AL in game-winning RBI. His defense is down this year, way down. So what? He could make 60 errors in a season and his run production would still make him one of the most valuable players in baseball.

But hey, if Yankee fans want to exercise that First Amendment right by booing Rodriguez constantly, more power to them. And if it's all a vicious cycle that leads to inane trade rumors that dominate 3/4 of the average Mike & The Mad Dog show and Rodriguez playing worse and getting psyched out, better still. And if all this should somehow lead to a return of the good old (or for Yankee fans, bad old) Bronx Zoo days? Well, I'm a happy guy.

I say, keep hatin', Yanks fans.

So lets send him to Columbus. How about that! Or lets cut him.:shakeno: The guy made an error. I dont' see you rushing here everytime he does something that helps the team win.

Do you know how foolish you look in these threads? Seriously.

I know you hate the yankees, but when you post this crap, you lose all credibility and nobody takes you seriously about any topic.

Texas is paying for part of his salary now and will forever. Why would NY trade him? They get the best or 2nd best player in baseball (with Pujols) at a discount! HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke the truth. A-Rod is a great player, no doubt. I admit it. But there were and still are (0-4 today with 4 K's) times where he is struggling in big spots THIS YEAR. You seem to love putting words in people's mouths. All I said was that there are times when he has struggled this year in big spots, that is all I said. I never said anything about him being benched, traded, or whatever. Yes, I hate the Yankees, but I'm not blind.

I don't see how I'm making myself look foolish my speaking the truth. Stop getting your panties in a bunch.

MikeO's speaking the truth. I mean think about it, how many other third baseman in baseball are better then A-Rod? Look at A-Rod's numbers, there better then just about any other third baseman's in baseball....and he's having what's considered an off year!

It's just a RedSox/Mets fan (I can't take anyone with 2 favorite teams seriously anyway, especially that combo who's fans don't like each other to begin with) who will crap on the Yanks for anything and everything just because.....

He has no credibility. Another guy who spends more time in the YANKEES THREAD of this board than the one of his own favorite team. It's sad, really really sad.
