The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

You're absolutely right, except that it's more than just the NY media, it's all the media. FOX and ESPN have killed Arod all week. Watching the Red Sox/Mariner game today and after each Arod at bat they showed him striking out and continued to today about his struggles.

I don't think it would be a big deal if Arod wasn't so good or in NY.

Yeah you're right. it's all the media and it's really sad to see this, A-ROD is a great guy and a great player, he doesn't deserves this blasting. Please yankees fans don't boo the guy, whe he comes to the plate, cheer him up, remember this: HE'S ONE OF THE BEST PLAYER IN BASEBALL HISTORY.

I wish it was as easy as that. New York is a very impatient city in all respects and will always be that way.

I agree 100% that the media is feeding this nonsense about Arod to the fans, who eat it up. I think a lot of it also has to do with loyalty to Jeter too. For a while there was the battle to see who was the best SS in baseball between Jeter, Arod and Nomar, and Yankees fans were very passionate about supporting Jeter because of the little things that he does everyday out on the field. He doesn't hit 50 homeruns but he will dive facefirst into the bleachers to catch a ball during a huge game against the rival Redsox. Arod made a comment in an interview about Jeter not being worth 20 million dollars a year (he said it was taken out of context) and NY fans were offended. The NY media had a field day trying to pit Arod against Jeter even though both players said they were fine with each other.

I think Arod will always be looked at as an outsider in NY because of his comments, the amount of money that he makes and the fact that he played the same position that the captian (and heart and soul of the Yankees) Derek Jeter played. It's too bad to because NY fans are missing out on watching one of the best players ever, doing what he does best. And that is playing baseball.

All I have to say is... Chuck Knoblauch.

I hope these problems persist into August, we're going to have some fun with this at A-Rods expense (like we did with Chucky) when the Yankees visit Fenway.

Info on ARod for this last 4 game series vs Jays.

Thursday - 1 for 4, 2 LOB, 2K's, 1 error.
Friday - 1 for 4, 1 HR, 3RBI's, 2 LOB, 2K's, 1 error.
Saturday - 0 for 4 , 6 LOB, with 4K's - (GOLDEN SOMBREREO).
Sunday - 0 for 4, 4 LOB, 1K

Total 2 for 16, 1HR, 3RBI, 9K's, 2 Errors and 14 LOB. ouch.

You're not the only one who sees a Knoblauch comparison. Excellent piece by Buster Olney yesterday on this.

anybody catch the score of the jay's game................................."ouch"

The media justs needs a big story "The best player in baseball isnt performing!!" I dont know where Mussina got off making that cheap comment about him either. Arod will be fine, as well as the yankees.

You don't know that! Sorry to say, but the wild card list goes like this:

1. Boston Redsox
2. Chicago Whitesox
3. New York Yankees
4. Minnesota Twins
5. Toronto Blue Jays

Each of those teams have BETTER pitching than the Yankees. All the Yankees got is Mike Mussina, and sometimes Carl Pavanno steps it up (he's inconsistent though along with Randy Johnson).

I know that the Yankees gone through alot this year with key injuries like Gary Sheffield and Hideki Matsui, but that roster is still over 200 million! George Steinbrenner will see this as a wasted season, well he sees any season that doesn't reach the World Series as a wasted season, but imagine a season that doesn't reach they playoffs?

Detroit Tigers are running away with the division title, so I'd expect the Chicago Whitesox to take the Wild Card or maybe even the Twins with that Santana/Lirianno pitching combo, leaving the Yankees chasing after the Redsox. It's anybody's division right now!

  ??? Pavano hasn't played all year. Maybe follow along before you comment!

And Boston does NOT have better pitching than NY. Sorry. Schilling is great. After that they are just as inconsistent as NY. Same goes with Toronto. And didn't NY just beat up the White Sox pitching for 3 days!?? I believe they did.

I think Toronto is a solid team and no excuses, they put a whoopin on us this weekend but IMO we caught them at a bad time. They had a lot of fire because of what happened with Hillenbrand and took it out on the Yankees. Oh well, I think we still see them 9 times so they'll have plenty of games to prove that their better then the Yankees and that they just weren't playing with fire under their *** because of what happened with Shea!

Jays played really good during the series though! We also had the top of the rotation going! :D

GO JAYS!

According to the NY Daily News the Yankees aren't in the market for Bobby Abreu at the moment because the Phillies asked for Philip Hughes (surprise, surprise).

Good, I don't want too see the Yanks trade away another young player for a potential quick fix. Glad to see that Brian Cashman is in control. :cooldude:

I don't like Brian "yes Mr. steinbrenner" Cashman, we need bob watson back, he knows how to build a championship team.
