The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

Rumor going around is Bobby Abreu and Cory Lidle/John Lieber for Melky Cabrera, Scott Proctor, Eric Duncan and another minor leaguer.

It's a pretty good deal for the Yankees. The only problem is they're losing a reliever in the pen which could hurt them if Dotel can't come back or Farnsworth has another back problem.

Hmmmmmm.....that sounds like a pretty good deal as long as the other minor leaguer isn't Hughes.

not a bad deal, but I din't think the Yankees would want to trade Melky.

Melky has no power. He is a contact hitter. Which is nice, but he won't drive in runs. The Yanks need a guy to drive in runs now and to replace Sheff next year. Abreu fits the bill.

Proctor is decent when at his best and he hasn't been at his best since May it seems. In the NL he could be very good, but in the AL he is throwin BP most nights.

I got tickets to tomorrows Yankee game so hopefully sitting in the 100 degree heat will be worth it. Plus I really want to see Moose get another win because if he doesn't get 20 wins this year, I doubt he ever will!

If Mussina gets 20 wins, he locks up his hall of fame ticket.

I think if he ends his career with over 250 wins (in this era of steroids) he's in anyway. But a 20 win season this year will lock it up.

I don't think he'll make it w/ 1 20 win season and I don't think he would deserve to. he's been incredibly consistent but he isn't an all-time great and thats' whatt he HOF is SUPPOSED to be about, they have let in enough guys who don't deserve it and I think Moose would fall short. If he put up the same #s and was on our 4 title teams then I think that could have pushed him over the top.

Yeah man I agree..

How can you say in one sentence Mussina is a lock and say Schilling has no shot?

missed my point. Saying a great year like a 20 win year THIS LATE IN HIS CAREER IN THE STEROID ERA will be the final thing on his resume that nails it.

Schilling has just over 200 wins. Musina currently has 236 and by the time he retires will be in the 260-275 range or higher. From 1992 on Mussiana has had double digit wins every year and has only had 1 year where he was under .500. Schilling can't say that.

If you put Schilling in and say he ends his career with 220 or so (I don't see him playing in 3-4 years), then it opens the flood gate for every guy with just over 200 wins who has hasn't been let in. Schill JUST got his 200th win at the age of 38/39, that is real late in someones career to be getting that.
