Yankees did a great job at the deadline no question about it

With 2 pitchers being under 20 wins it doesn't matter their ERA, they weren't going to win it and with Ortiz's ERA in the 3's when others had better ERA's, you can see why the nod goes to Gagne!
As far as 92, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that this was one year where a starter could have easily won it but Eck was 7-1 with 50+ saves and led relievers in just about every catergory. Papelbum might not get to 50 saves (a magic number for closers), is tied with 2 others right now in saves (so he might not even lead the league in saves), doesn't lead in strikeouts for relievers, and has blown 3 saves, as many as Todd Jones, Tom Gordon, K-Rod, and more then Mariano, Ray from Baltimore (lol), and Bobby Jenks. (plus Gagne blew none and I don't know how many Eck blew but I doubt it was many). Papelbum's ERA is fantastic and if he keeps it up and the Red Sox say win the division or win a tight Wild Card race and he saves a few in the clutch then yes, I would say that Red Sox fans have an argument. But remember with relievers, he's two or three bad outings away from that ERA going up and making his season look worse then it's been. With starters, they can have a bad outing and it won't effect their numbers as bad because they log so many innings. MikeO is right, unless Papelbum doesn't do something great like not blow another game or doesn't give up another run the rest of the season, with the likes of Mussina, Schilling, Wang, Verlander, Liriano, and Santana all having great seasons, I'd bet money that one of those 6 (just one) are going to keep on the pace their going over Papelbum being perfect the rest of the year!

News: Robinson Cano went 2-for-5 as a designated hitter Thursday for the Rookie GCL Yankees.
Impact: Cano is scheduled to play three games for Double-A Trenton starting Friday and rejoin the Yankees next Tuesday. (Thu. Aug 3, 2006)
Hideki Matsui - #55 - Left Field - 6'2" - 230lbs
News: Hideki Matsui (wrist) was not cleared to resume taking batting practice following his examination on Thursday, making an August return unlikely.
Impact: This is quite a surprise, considering that his recovery seemed to be going according to plan. With Gary Sheffield also unlikely to return before rosters expand, it seems likely that Melky Cabrera will remain a regular for the rest of the month. (Thu. Aug 3, 2006)

And this will be a year where NO closers will get any CY YOUNG attention because so many good starters are having good seasons. Closers only get attention in years where the starters arent doing much of anything.

I've been away for a while on vacation, but thanks for welcoming me back with some comedy relief.
Wang won't sniff the Cy Young and that's a fact. He's not on the level of Liriano, Santana, Papelbon, Halladay and even Verlander with his recent injury.
