I said arguably.. His 11 errors don't help his cause but his team winning the divison and the fact that he plays defense really does catapault his stance according to the voters. It's just a fact.

Jeter isn't winning the Gold Glove at SS this year.

I love him as a player and no doubt he exudes all that is a MVP. Yet that arguement would be a stretch.

Yea...you are right..I am 40 yrs old...watched more baseball than you have been born...seen more MVP votes that have been argued back and forth..and live in NY where I watch Jeter play everyday. Where did I question any of your baseball knowledge?. The only thing I said was that even to say arguably that Jeter was the front runner for the MVP is a stretch. Up until yest...were the Red Sox only 1 1/2 games back?...Do you think that the Red Sox minus Ortiz would even be that close?. The man single handedly carried the club. The Sox would be 10 games back without him. I DID say Jeter should be considered...you should just relax a bit and not take it too personal. I don't.

lmao at front runner when the payrolls got there full lineup jeter is like the 6th or 7 best hitter on the "team"

he's the guy pitcher want to pitch to on that "team"

with a lineup of arod bobby giambi damon etc etc jeter would have to put ungodly numbers to be mvp which he's not doing

he's not even the mvp of the yankess i would say mo is
well really steinbrenner's checkbook is

its not even wroth debating with jeter's statline right now he has not shot at all

LMAO @ taking something personal in regards to Derek Jeter's MVP chances. :sidelol: Please, guy.

You are the one making it personal. I just questioned the fact of whether or not you knew about the tendencies of the MVP voters we have here in the MLB. I don't think you do.

You will find that many voters don't even consider a DH in the running for an MVP race. In addition to the fact that Jeter's leadership, including how he single handedly kept the NYY team glued together during their rash stretch of injuries. Many MVP voters will take that into account among other obvious things.
 
I can't believe I have to argue the merits of David Ortiz to a Red Sox fan!..lol. I hear your arguement about Jeter...and I do know about the tendencies of writers when they vote. It it usually STATS driven..and they usually do ignore alot of the tangibles that Jeter shows that make him such a great player. I did not say he should not be considered...I said I didn't think he was the front runner. The personal part was not about Jeter..it was that I questioned if Jeter was the frontrunner...and the first thing you state is that I don't know much about the MVP voting.
 
The MVP has been so catered to the sluggers. I think Jeter definately has a shot, he's been absolutely brilliant this year.

And with that, I'd like to say:
