The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

When I said it was a stretch...I meant that he was the frontrunner...not that he should not be MVP. If I have Ortiz #1 and Jeter #2....means I don't know anything about the voting?..lol..We can both agree that both are very worthy.
We can both agree on that yes but it is not a stretch for Jeter to be the front-runner by any stretch of the imagination. Oh and excuse my tone, you have to understand what thread this is and who posts in it, I become a natural a$$hole right when I click the thread title. :)

Man, the Yankees won every game this series in different fashion. They won a pitchers duel, they won a blowout, they won a tight high scoring game, I mean it doesn't get any better then this. I would have signed up for 3 wins this weekend before the series started. I still can't believe the Yankees are up 6 1/2 (7 in the loss column) after this weekend. This almost seems to good to be true and now the Red Sox are heading out West for 9 and don't have a day off until September 6th. Hey Red Sox bums, you still want Coco roaming CF LMAO!

Looks like you got it right Finkle. No Giambi, no Damon, and no Posada today!

Don't forget Jeter DHing and Nick Green playing SS.

I figured Torre wouldn't put his best players out today, especially a day game right after a Sunday night game that ended after 12.

I was shocked Proctor pitched today though. After the season is over I doubt he'll be able to wipe his butt with his right hand/arm until 2007. He's been very good this year though and with the big lead he'll get rest because he sure could use it.

It's one thing if the Yankees would have taken 5 at the Stadium. It's another to go up to Fenway and do that. Even though I knew the Red Sox weren't better then the Yankees this year and have been struggling big time, I thought they'd grind out at least 2 games or the series (I knew the Yankees would take at least 2 and wouldn't be embarrassed). In 2004 the Red Sox had that huge comeback after the A-Rod-Varitek fight and it sparked them all the way to a World Series. This series I'm afraid has had the opposite impact on the team and I think when it's all said and done the Yankees will win the division by 5 games. I think the Red Sox ship has sunk and they don't have the pitching or hitting to make up for it. The Yankees gave the Red Sox today's game on a silver platter and they got taken to school. The Red Sox are done and eventually Theo is going to have to start signing guys (or trading away prospects for good players) who have accomplished something in MLB and needs to stop relying on upside. Everyone keeps talking about how the future is bright with the Red Sox but if these prospects they think are going to be so good don't pan out, this period could set the Red Sox back a couple of years also!

I agree with everything except the stuff about Theo.

He has a "masterplan" in place which is why he didn't trade off his prospects. But you're right if the prospects don't pan out the Sox are screwed. Some of the prospects I've seen and they do look pretty good and could turn into good MLB talent so we'll just have to wait and see.

Just wanted to say that not much is sweeter than a five game sweep over the sox!!!!!

For over 2 years i have heard people here and on TV and read GM's and scouts from around MLB say the Yanks have no farm system that the farm system is empty.

Cano.........Wang..........and Melky!!!

In 2003 and 2004 ALL of those guys could have been had. In 2005 Melky could have been had in any trade. But all of the GM's and scouts didn't see anything in them.

Which is why I laugh anytime I see people grading farm systems or saying this farm system is strong or this one is weak. Cause its all BS. It's BS on every level. The same people putting grades on farm systems saw nothing in Cano, Melky, and Wang. So what do they really know.

Golden opportunity missed tonight to pick up another game on Boston. Not an awful loss though, just a tough one. Coming off the 5 game winning streak though ya can't be too upset over it.

BTW, Boston lost again and they look totally done!
