The Official 2006 New York Yankees Thread!

While the team itself loses money (what Cashman is talking about) the "organization" makes a boatload off the YES network. The whole Yankee empire is making billions!!

empire, indeed...

I will say this too. If Houston (another Marlins-esque small market today/large market today) decide they will part with Andy Pettite because he is due a huge portion of his contract this year which Im sure they don't want to pay. I would LOVE to see NY make a move to get him back.

He isn't the same guy as he was 4 or 5 years ago, but a crafty leftie with postseason experience I will take.

Some guys I don't expect back next year.

Jaret Wright
Gary Sheffield
Carl Pavano
Craig Wilson
Bernie Williams

The thing to remember with AROD. He has a no trade claus meaning he can just say FU to everyone and stay put. (and the way he has been treated he just might) If he accepts a trade it is almost like admitting failure. Which is a knock on his resume he can never get off. By staying around he at least has the "opportunity" to re-write it.

For AROD to leave I think it will take his wife, close friends, and people he trust to talk him into accepting any trade. I don't see AROD making a personal decision to leave on his own.

A-Rod is done in NY...the Yankee fans are not forgiving and he knows his time is up.

well. the fans have no say in whether he stays or goes. they don't have a vote in the matter :shakeno:

how much you wanna bet every high-priced free agent in baseball will be mentioned, pondered and insisted by insatiable yankee fans here and everywhere?

"oh, yeah! we need to get him!!"

Nah. Only the pitchers on the market. The everyday lineup is all signed and set in stone.

Whoooaa Mike.
First, there are very few Pitchers out there (Zito) and tons of teams wanting them.
Second- After scoring less than a handfull of runs in the last three games, I would also be VERY concerned about the lineup...

Just like I have been saying for months, not enough pitching.. Much better pitching than the RedSox this year, but not enough to win against a better staff... Both teams will be in the hunt for any live arm..

Well boys, it took me this long to gather myself following todays elimination.

What can be said? We funked at the wrong time, again. Its starting to become a trend, but atleast we keep giving ourselves chances.....the dam will break again one day, until then you tip your cap.

I suspect changes will come, they always do, its just a question of how many and whom.

what possible move could make the lineup better? SERIOUSLY!!!! Get Ryan Howard or Albert Pujols? :shakeno: :shakeno:

And pitchers are out there via trade. Yanks have a lot of trade bait. Especilaly if AROD is on the block.

Wait, what trade bait? I dont think that ANYBODY outside of Boston....and maybe BOSTON can afford AROD. Only 12 million a year:goof:

If you are trading your "Set" fielders than you no longer have set Fielders. I dont think you have much in the minors to trade cause that has already been cashed in.

I see Major changes for your franchise, and I bet A-Rod isnt part of it...

What could you possibly add to that lineup to improve its run production? You guys just ran into good pitching and got cold with the bats at the wrong time, it happens.

Wonder what the Yankees would want? Angels have a lot of prospects, including some arms they'd probably part with.

A Rod has a no trade claus, he's not going anywhere........
