Trivia for the first Olympic gold medal:

Katerina Emmons, Czech Republic: 10m Air Rifle

Women's soccer got upset by Norway 2-0. Men beat Japan, 1-0.

Don't know when/if others see. US Women vs Japan.

Goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, 1-0

EDIT: And victory!

KOBE KOBE KOBE. #1 athlete people want to see in China.

I hope the US runs train in Mens Basketball and Baseball.

Too bad they're getting rid of Baseball and Softball next Olympics though.

Good start for Phelps, broke Olympic record in 400m medley.

Will he get eight gold medals?

He's got his first two now! Anyone else watch the 4x100m freestyle? What a crazy finish!! I was jumping up and down.

Dream team got off to a good against what looked like a huge banana skin against China.

On a side note any time I watch the US in Olympic basketball they always struggle with 3 point shooting coz of the range changes. Although they are dominent inside there 3 point shooting could become an issue down the stretch

Doesn't bode well for USA then. 3's and FT killed USA in 2004 and 2006 world championship and that doesn't look to have changed over first 2 games. Also, while Howard is dominant, after him there's no depth. Like Kidd (age), Boozer (not fast) looks slow for international game. Carmelo hasn't showed up. Kobe and James are playing to win popularity contest in China. Prince's shot is still really ugly. Defense is excellent. Point guards Paul-Williams play really well together. Still team with most talented players, but need to be most talented team to win gold and not end up with bronze like last 2 times.

An annoucer during one of the games stated on of the reasons of the 3 shooting is the NBA wings aren't catch and shoot...all used to offense going thru them and not waiting for the ball being dished out to them. Which is odd for coach K to build the team as he's moved to that style of offense for his Dookies. But guess telling one of those best players that want to play they can't is not going to happen. 2010 may balance some of 3pt shooting out, international plan to move there line to 22'3". No change in FT distance though.

Phelps is an absoute monster...think he's at 11 right now.

The men could learn alot from the US womens team. They really play as a team on both on offense and defense. Even though the team is full would top players they really do take on the team concept.

If Boozer is too slow the international game, then he has no business playing in the NBA! The international game is ssslllooowww!

The single biggest reason the USA has been losing as of late is the lack of team play. Already after 2 games I think that has been solved. Now if they can just improve the outside shooting then a gold would be academic.

Jamaican women make it a clean sweep on the 100m, taking gold and 2 silvers!!!!

What a weekend for Jamaican sprinting

Phelps is incredible!! he doesn't swim through water, water gets out of his way great job man USA USA USA!!
