That whole article was crap. There are many, many more factors that Ross and Company are taking into account when interviewing these candidates. And, regardless, it is hard to believe that any boss/owner would throw that down a candidates throat during the interview process.
Don't start making excuses for Ross and Philbin until this investigated more. Our boy La Canfora was saying this PRIOR to Philbin getting the job.
Hate to say it, but if this is true, what option does that make Philbin? Cowher, Gruden, Fisher....McCoy? Philbin...5th option?
I really hope that is not true.
Can you give me an example in which a coordinator was heaped upon a first time coach? Very irregular.
It doesn't necessarily mean that McCoy was in front of Philbin at all - only that this was yet another reason to disqualify his candidacy.
You understand that if the perception in the locker room is that Joe did not pick his staff and that the people in the FO DID, the FO might have just emasculated their new hire? Perception is reality.
Why would the players listen to the HC when in reality the owner's box is really where the power lies with the team?
I kind of hope Bowles DOES NOT get the DC job now for Joe's sake.

LeBeau & Omar Epps (I mean Tomlin).
Ok...Seriously, I hope you are right. But, if it comes out that it did DSQ McCoy, then we have sunk to a new a low as a franchise.
The more I read about McCoy, the more I'm glad we didn't hire him. He just seems to lack professionalism, openly talking to the media about his position with a franchise that he isn't even a part of. I thought it last week when his agent said he was confident he was the outstanding candidate and then he turned down the Raiders job because he was sure he was getting the Miami job. Glad we chose Philbin.
