The Ricky Situation doesn't make any sense

.......at least to me.......the Ricky Williams flirtation doesn't make any sense. Saban has been quoted as saying the man has value to this organization. Now one could read between those glaring lines and see that perhaps he's been saying that to lure him back in and and ship him out. What would we get shipped in though? Think about that? If Shaun Alexander and Edgerring James couldn't get shipped out, then why would Ricky? And for what? A 5th rounder? He's certainly not worth what was being asked for Edge and Shaun and IMO he's nowhere near worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder when you consider he's dropped a lot of weight, been out of football for over a year, won't be in any real effective playing form for at least a year (including suspensions) and proven to be a mental case regardless of what Wanny ever did to him.

So again I ask, what's the point? I understand that in the NFL these days you need 2 good RB's like you need 2 good QB's because of injuries that happen. Ricky's what, 27 or 28 now? The man's career is not going to hit primetime. All that's left for the man is to go downhill. It's not like we've got a Curtis Martin here, this is Ricky Williams we're talkin' about. Curtis Martin is a warrior. Ricky Martin errrrrrr Williams is a hasbeen.

I'm not PressCoverage ,I wish I had the answers , the bottom line is Saban..If (HE) not (US) thinks there is value in bringing back Ricky he will be back as a Dolphin either as a Player or a pawn for draft picks..Get something for him is all I'm saying but lets get it over with come june 1st and move on!! out of our control saban holds all cards. He has done good so far keep driving on forward..
(Press I'm just using you as an example you seem to have the inside scoop) :)

See I was along the same lines where I wanted something to be finalized in and around the draft. After that it's just pointless if you look at all the glaring negating factors. Again, age, condition, previous incidents......... Ricky Williams woud be the ultimate joke to bring to the football bargaining table with possible trade partners. This is a new Miami Dolphins football organization. Let's keep it that way and move on out from here.

I honestly think that if Saban wants him back it is to be used on this team as a RB and nothing more. There is too much involved with trying to bring him back, get him into game shape, clear his name, get a new contract and fix his head to trade him for a 5,6 or 7th rounder. I have said it before but look how similar the auburn backfield and the Fins backfield would be if RW came back and didnt miss a beat. Saban knows first hand the damage 2 studs in the backfield could do and I think he is trying to bring that to the NFL. Brown and Williams in the backfield with Chambers, Booker and Mcmike running downfield. OUCH!!!

Ship him out for what, a wet bag of sox?

Ricky has no trade value. Even if he was to return and show he still has the talent no team is going to trade for a wackadoo like Wicky.

Oh I completely agree. He'd be a complete joke at the bargaining table.

I agree.. Get what ever we can and move on, I dont care if its a 7th round pick at least its better than nothing..I just wont be surprised if Saban sees value in keeping Ricky around ,maybe just to use as a decoy early on to keep teams guessing..it will be over soon.

He's not young. That's what my biggest point was. He's nearly 29.

Not to mention the future is wide open man. We could always get another back to spell Brown so we don't burn him out.

Well, thats where we disagree......28 is not old, obviously Saban doesn't agree with you either.

Hahaha........ I've always loved that retort. Used it a few times in my day, the good ol "You're not the coach."

So 28 is young? And we're speaking in NFL terms of course.

26-32 is prime.

instead of say 25-30? I don't know......into the 30's is pushing it.
Yeah, sometimes that wall comes quickly after 30 but, barring injury most good/great players make it to at least 32 before they start going south due to wear and tear.

Dude just because Ricky offended your sensibilities and quit a football team does not mean that he is not every bit the beast that he once was! In fact as Dolphin fans we have NO idea how great he can be. Those clowns who ran him to the left on first down and to the right on second down in front of a slightly above average offensive line destroyed the Dolphin heritage. Those jackasses, miserable idiots, rotten jerks stained our beautiful legacy. Why was Norv Turner and ******** Dumbstadt ever here in the first place.

The answer is because Jimmy Johnson won a Superbowl in Dallas. Why did Jimmy mastermind a 14-2 Superbowl year, because the Vikings were idiots. To prove my point that same Dallas team won a superbowl after Johnson left and that BAFOON head coach Swicker or whatever his name was from Oklahoma or wherever the hell he was from came in and road the coat tails of a previous regime into stardom. That Dallas team was SICK! The list of talent is mind boggling - nice job drafting Jimmy! and I mean it!

So who knows what Ricky could do - spelled by Ronnie Brown and Kay Jay Harris teams better run for cover. We are gonna SMASH some peoples teeth in and win some very big games this year.

I posted this before - the NFL is full of characters who if they were not in the NFL would be in jail! That does not mean they are bad people, these are the good ones, they have made something of their opportunities. But lets be frank, this is a viscious sport and a billion dollar industry. These are our gladiators for sure. So G-d bless them, but can people on this site get over their own sensibilities about teammates and teamwork and all that crap. Ricky is in trouble in his life and Saban is here to help. Play a year of football earn bookooh bucks, righteous cash $$$, share the load with a couple of rooks and lets get some W's. All the rest is bullocks. And trust me on this one if and when Ricky works out, EVERYBODY and I mean EVERYBODY is gonna be talking about what a genious Saban is.

I am astonished that just because fans were let down when Ricky left the NFL to smoke pot that they expect that this translates into anything meaningful in relation to his decision to return. So your mad, get over it. If you or I were that good and playing for Dumbstadt most likely we would wanna escape too.
He made a bad decision in a way because of how he did it, but that is all the more reason Saban wants him back. An impressionable and HIGHLY talented player Saban gives Ricky cash and a sense of direction, and Saban and Miami get arguably one of the greatest athletes in the game. Buoyah!

I see you're every bit of your profile name. Yeah, Nick Saban joined the Dolphins so he could save Ricky Williams life. Right. The "Buoyah" part was funny though.

OK...I understand you dont like Ricky. Fine. But just look at it from a "FOOTBALL" only standpoint. His body took no beating last year. He is relatively young. His contract is cap friendly. His skills have yet to show any type of decline. So where..I ask you..is his career..AGAIN FOOTBALL RELATED...going downhill?
