The Speilman/Wanny Legacy Presses On!

It would be easier for me to look at the past if Wanny and Spielman were still running the show but this is a new day with a new coach who really looks like he knows what he's doing. If Wanny/Spielman wouldn't have made that and other horrible/dumb/suicidal moves we may have never gotten Saban. So in the end we can look at those lost picks as an exchange for someone who knows how to run a football program...

Now, this is where is gets ugly.. Im giving Nick a pass, since he is a rookie... but this may end up being more of the Wanny era lingering on... If Nicks 06 draft is anything like this draft (unprepared), then this is a lingering on of wannys failure. But, it will more over point to Heizengas total ineptness.

Give it a rest. Right now we know next to nothing about how either will turn out. Reggie Brown could blow out both knees in camp and never play again. Feeley may thrive under Saban and turn into a good QB.

so, you look at it that the only way Feeley is better then Brown is if Brown blows out both kneesd in camp? gee, do you route for foes players to get hurt so you dont have to face the better players on the opponents team? I know, I concur, that is the only way we can 2/3 of the time. :roflmao:

Are you frieking serious???

I would rather have feeley myself, As for speilman, how much input did he have the draft, only saban knows his true value, and is probably evaluating him on what he did for this years draft, so we should know shortly if he is worthless or not, if he is he will be dumped shortly, saban won't hang on to useless players or personnel, he has no ties to.

At the time...using that pick was the best they could do...was it the best trade? Only time will tell....but if Feeley shows he can win games with what we have on offense...I think the pick was well worth it. Look what Green Bay paid for Rodgers....will he start...not soon....will he ever be worth that pick...especially playing in Green Bay...I have my doubts...I believe he had the smallest hands of any QB in the draft...small hands and cold weather do not make a great combination...only time will tell.

You're joking right?! or you just dont like Saban. Unprepared? Now you're telling us that you were unprepared to make this post. I think a majority would agree that our draft was VERY strong.

You may not agree..... but thats why we dont run the team. Sabans pick we a clear indication the old days of Wanny are over.

As one who cringes at the thought of the last several drafts, this one feels real good. The whole energy of the organization has changed. Players (UFA's & FA's) want to come and play here. You can feel it. My only hope is that everybody gets signed and into camp. Let's go!!!

Why are his picks the clear indication the Wanny days are over?

I am dead serious. He had no direction in his draft approach. He was all over the place, had no purpose. his purpose wasnt drafting the BAP's either. he showed that late in the draft. He stuck to what he knew, plain and simple. That is unpreparedness.

I respect your opinion, but you are DEAD WRONG.

Very few people in the whole entire world know more about football, or prepare more than Nick Saban.
Many many people have said that even before he was hired as Dolphins coach.

The fact that he coached against two guys that BOTH had 1st round grades on them (Roth and Crowder) that we got in the 2nd and 3rd round is just coincidence if you ask me.
You rarely find value like that later in the draft.

Saban did a great job.

Please tell me how Brown, Roth and Vickerson are mistakes... Please.. No Purpose? All over the place??.. what did you want... a RB, QB, And WR? you forget that there are players on the team ALREADY who will contribute.. veteran FAs we recently signed who will contribute...

I think your making a statement that needs a little more substantiated support.
Who would have run the draft.. who would you have selected.. what do you think OUR needs are... ?:shakeno:

His pick addressed need. He showed savvy in holding firm on "value". Just because a players went under your radar doesnt mean it was missed by the scout dept.
He is also changing the defensive and offensive philosophies of this team. And drafting players that will accent the talent we already have.. and be successful in the "system".

Why are you having a hard time understanding this? Or is it you just dont like Saban?

I agree. Being a UGA fan, I still can't believe the Eagles picked him in the 2nd round. He wasn't even the best receiver on Georgia last year, Fred Gibson was and he didn't go until round 4. Brown drops way too many catchable balls.
