The Tannehill War Thread

so let me get this straight...if tannehill is let's say 15/15 on short intermediate passes and doesn't connect on 2 deep pass attempts he sucks?

Just because you are optimistic about Tannehill or defend him it doesn't make you a lover, just like because you bring up things he does wrong, doesn't make you a hater. Who the hell doesn't want the kid to do great?

Uhm... okay, you don't feel like we have a 2007 Patriots offense? No ****. How many teams in NFL history have had an offense that good? Two?

They went 18-1 with marginal defensive play that year.

how did I know ppl would take that example and think I am expecting that right now. it was just used as an example. I was trying to say that I wish I could feel confident in our offense when they are on the field. im tired of getting into a position where im just hoping not to see a interception or a three and out. all the time, over and over, constantly, except for today of course

You used perhaps the most dominant offense in NFL history as your example, so yeah, you are going to get criticized for that.

I think this year's Philadelphia Eagles would be a much better comparison. They aren't perfect, or amazing, but they are putting up points, moving the ball, they are balanced, and Foles is playing great ball right now.

No. But if he is 15/35 on deep balls, of which, 6 of them were busted coverages and the wideout would have a td if the ball placement was IN FRONT of the wideout, yet results in no scores then yes that is an issue. Sucks? Hardly. Fixable? Unknown. Do we want to fix that and have a complete qb? Yes.

no but they are now 9-3. and like it or not, it has everything to do with brady...

Ahh...no, he sucked early in the year. He only turned it on a few games ago. Their success has more to do with and easy early schedule and I'm still pissed the Dolphins should of beat them if it wasn't for several horrible calls that did effect the game.

so what your saying is he only pass that matters is the deep pass

The haters never back him up when he does good. It would be nice if people could actually point out the bad and the good and see the balance of it all.

Thats never gonna happen on this site.

Capulets?

I ****in hate self correcting electronic keyboards.

Say what you will about the jest offense and admittedly they gave their D no rest for the weary BUT still although their corners have been a weakness, that hasn't changed - we beat a defense ranked one of the best in the league so I sure wouldn't minimize the way we won!

No. Is capitalizing on easy scoring opportunities what teams who are repeatedly good do? How about qb's? Spin in how you want but opportunities don't come often in the nfl and if the dolphins want to get to the next level they need to hit on those plays.

No, don't be dense. His comments were actually very fair... he said that just because Tannehill struggles with the deep ball (this is a fact), it DOES NOT mean he sucks BUT for him to be a complete QB he does need to improve that.

The problem with the Tannehill discussion is there is too many people far left or far right on the guy. If you're unbiased, you can see the guy has a **** ton of potential, can make every throw in the book, but has problems with the deep ball and scanning/reading the field post-snap. He has improved big time, and I am still optimistic about him, but he is far from elite and has a lot of improvement needed before he can be considered a very good quarterback. A new offensive coordinator and OL wouldn't hurt, either.

I am amazed at how well our offensive line is playing after all the injuries and distractions with Martin. It is just amazing. I'm a Tannehill believer. He is growing and has kept a very professional approach despite all the issues. He isn't Andrew Luck, but those kind of QB's come once in 10 years. We have lost Justin Keller, our slot receiver, and 2/3 of our offensive line. We have a non-existent running game, much less a short ground game for easy first downs. Let' not forget our coaching hasn't been stellar. Give OUR QB the support he needs. He is doing everything expected of him and then some. IF we can correct some of these issues and he keeps growing, we are in good shape with our franchise QB. The only 2 QB's who could do better is Peyton and/or Brady. That alone speaks volumes.

Think what you want to see in a QB in his 2nd year is someone performing at a good level, with potential that is improving, and we have that in Tannehill. He is moving in the pocket better, avoiding sacks, taking off on runs more often, spreads the ball around great while still trying to feed Wallace, a few gamewinning drives, the game is clearly slowing down for him. Long ball accuracy is his biggest weakness now, and I have every confidence it will improve because it is something that can be improved. After that the only question to me is his performance in big games, and hopefully we will get to see that the next few years.
I think some of the 'haters' but probably a minority of them are open to criticism because the accentuate the bad and ignore the good.

Here's an interesting question for you: Would you trade Tannehill for Matt Ryan straight up, right now?
