The ultimate tanking hypothetical for the team and fans

Final game of the season at New England, the Dolphins are 1-14 and two other teams are at 2-13 (and are losing badly that day). Due to tiebreakers, if the three teams end up at 2-14, the Dolphins will pick third...

The Dolphins are down 17-13, with five seconds left and the ball on the Patriots two yard line....are you rooting for them to score? Does Stephen Ross want them to score?

Obviously this exact scenario is farfetched, but it is possible we'll be faced with something similar.

I said it was farfethed, but my point was that it's possible that at some moment this season we'll have to decide if we want them to win a game or get a higher pick...
 
One of the best wins in recent Dolphins history, with an epic ending...what did the Miracle in Miami get us last year? Basically dropped us a few spots in the draft and didn't affect Pats one bit - maybe gave them a bit more motivation if anything heading into the playoffs.
 
OK, the counter point to that is....

They TANK and lose all their games this season JUST to pick 1st...

Then in preseason game #1, their shiny new rookie QB tears his ACL, MCL and PCL.

OR, he gets arrested in week #3 for doing something that Jared from subway would do...

OR he pulls a John Elway.

Are you kidding? This is so easy it hurts. DON'T SCORE. Why would a win against the Patriots mean anything at that point of the season?

If you are a 'tanker boner' stick to tanking. Don't go into any hypothetical scenario. Root against the Dolphins all the way through. Every single game. If you want to tank and believe in tanking you root for the Dolphins to be blown out every single game. There are no "what if" or "maybe we should" scenarios.

Scenario 1...then Miami has their QB in 2021 as they continue to build

Scenario 2...out of character, not gonna happen

Scenario 3...Tua plays baseball?
