The View From the Other Side (Houston)

I'm not gonna knock anything the Houston fans are saying, some of those guys have been long suffering Oilers fans, who went years without football, and now recently 6 years without a playoff run.

You know how we only have a few things to hang our hat on, like the perfect season, the 2008 season, etc? Well the only things they've got (as the Texans) are their streak over us, and the excitement of a win over a Manning-less Colts. I'm glad their fans are happy, they deserve to be. If we had decisively won our opener against a team that frequently kicked our ***, I'd be pumped too.

With that said, I definitely don't think the NE game was a "blowout" more like a major disappointment, but I also think the Texans streak ends this Sunday. There were only some conditioning issues, and a few key plays that stopped us from beating who many regard to be the best team in the league. This Sunday we will back to correct those issues and get our season back on track.

No doubt NE is a good team. But most people when evaluating the dolphin's D just look at the numbers and come to their conclusion. Let's not forget that the patriots did all this in an unconventional way. We were caught off guard with their no huddle, just like we caught them with the wildcat. We will adjust and our defense is much better than the stats show. We will prove that against a more traditional offense in the Texans.

The Texans have never made the playoffs..Miami was an expanison team too and we went to the superbowl in what our 4th year?

Went to 3 straight super bowls..Perfect season...

The Colts signed Kerry Collins out of retirment 2 weeks before opening day and now all of a sudden the Texans are much improved?

Laughable..I bet the Jags some how win that divison.

I'm 54 years old and I don't even live in the past like you

but since you want to go there...When was the last time we beat the Texans? That's why the fans don't respect our team

Funny this thread is supposed to be about Texans and their fans taking us seriously and I go to their board and they are predicting a 30 point victory. They say we can't stop their running game, Andre Johnson is going to tear us up, their TE and full back will have career days, John Joseph is going to shut down Marshall, Every player on their defense is going to pressure Henne all night, and Reggie Bush is garbage.

All that is fine and dandy, but what really gets me upset is when they say that Rackers is matched up against a nobody. If Carpenter is a nobody then why does Tony Sporano do so many fist pumps when he is on the field. Answer that Texans fans.

It's easy to be ****y when you're on the internet. Add to the mix that they beat the Colts w/o Manning and it's like the Redskins fans around here who think the team is bound for greatness (nevermind the Giants defense had 81 guys missing).

Look at all of the quotes from the Texans fans there. They reek of 18 year old teenagers who work at Blockbuster Video. Seeing as how no one's opinions really actually matter, their opinions deserve to be shunned ten times as much.

Oh nice. I never realized you lived in Springfield Va. I'm in Centreville Va at the moment. Where do you watch the games at? I usually watch at Glory Days in Centreville

Come on now, does that really sound like any kinds of fans that actually follow all of the NFL and not just their own team? Fan messageboards can be cesspools of non-information and rah rah or complete doom and gloom. I mean if you want competent football analysis from a Texans standpoint you'd be way better off visiting Texanstalk.com.

How many goofy Dolphins fans inhabit boards.miamidolphins.com?

Love the avatar bud...

The game was labeled a blowout but it really wasn't, the game was a shootout. Miami was 1ft from closing to within 7 points in the 4th and a 99 yard meltdown to make the 14 point swing complete. If Miami pulled within 7 who knows what would have happened but they would have still been there with NE in the late 4th.

To me a blowout is a game where the opposing team had less then a miracles chance of winning in the 4th.

That being said, it is still no excuse for the defensive performance that Miami put up, what a horrible effort in every aspect of defense. If they hope to have a chance against Texas that better be addressed or this game will end up either a) and Shootout or b) and Blowout.

I didn't mean to say Texans fans are dumb or anything. I was just saying how the OP was implying that the message boards showed their fans were worried about the Dolphins and that we are being too harsh. From the threads I have read the opinions have varied from Crazy optimistic, like the ones I stated before, to optimistic. I did go to Texanstalk and I still haven't seen any Texans fans who are really worried about the Dolphins, beyond the old any given sunday type argument.

Texans' fans are awfully ****y for a team who is known to be one of the most inconsistent and unpredictable teams in the league.

they are feeling the manningless division in their grasp.

From T Eric Winston:

There were two plays there that were defining. They didn’t get in on the fourth-and-goal and the next play, the Patriots hit a 99-yard pass that blew the game open. That was the game right there, so to act like the game was never in reach is not really true. It’s not indicative of what happened. We got to go out there and we got to play well. I think Miami’s a good team. I think they’re going to be in it at the end to go into the playoffs.”

An offensive lineman that gets it. Even though I believe that our D played on their heels the whole game, he hit the nail right on the head. The game ultimately came down to those 2 situations.

and he probably gets it cus houston is in shootouts with manning all the time and they know what happens when a hall of famer on the other side.

Right well I mean think about it this way, were Dolphins fans really worried about the Texans in 2008 when we came in 0-4 and you guys had already smoked the Pats once by unveiling the wildcat? Not saying the 2 situations are completely the same, but you`re catching all the fans right after the biggest beatdown of the big bullies on the block so optimism will run high.

I don`t think you`ll see the Texans players making comments akin to not giving the Dolphins any respect, and as a fan, I am much more worried about the 3rd, 4th and 5th games on our schedule than the 2nd. I`m not going to go around **** talking any other NFL teams because I don`t think the Texans have earned that right, but I don`t think you can fault us for not being as particularly worried about a team who just suffered a loss at the hands of their big bullies.

No disrespect to bong or another texans fans out there but if theyre expecting to win this game in the fashion we just lost like they have something coming to them.. Nolan is going to be licking his chops to unleash this defense and prove that last week was an aberration. If we score 21 points this game is over book it.
