The world thinks we suck. What do they see that don't?

Why the Orton thing? The Dolphins never made the dude an offer so where exactly is the news from that whole event? A team can't do anything about the media running this way and that way with irrelevant nonsense...

Must be why the Dolphins beat the Packers last year then

The Orton thing was a big topic in the media. It allowed them to speculate 24 hours a day. The fact that the deal never happened gives the pundits another talking point about the state of our ownership, Ireland and Sparano. It blew up in our face. Remember, we barely beat a Packers team that was decimated by injuries at that point in the season. The media will just toss that aside. For us to go there are beat them in their own house was a big win, the problem is we lost to Buffalo, Cleveland, and Detroit at home.

Does anyone remember what they were saying about us several times over the last 5 years? We were picked to be a contender several times then.....1-15....7-9

There is no way anyone can truly "know" how all 32 teams are going to end up. We aren't the only team being doomed that is way better than what people are saying.
We will be better than last year.

I don't know about that "liking Sparano" ... that's just the company line & the truth comes out after they're gone. You don't go around dissing your boss, even if he's a jerk or dolt.

Players "said" they liked Wanny, Satan, Cam too ... then later on it was quite different.

I have a hunch ... they feel Tony is a people-person who isn't the brightest bulb. Who wants to play/work for a dim-bulb who produces poor results? The list is loooong ... Play-calling, O-Line, Special Teams, etc. (I don't put the poopflinger QB on the list as Tony's not in charge of getting a QB ... but he is in charge getting the most out of him = FAIL!!)

My nickname for Sparano is "fluffy" ... he's soft across the board. Then talks fluff to disguise it.

Just sayin!!

completely disagree with this sentiment.

first off, crowder is obviously disenfrachised as was ricky and now those guys are gone. Tony just just said to media he had to "look himself in the mirror" and realize that he made mistakes and he had to do something to change this team's mindset. He made the changes along with Ireland.

Now, no one can say that he is just a fluff guy. He is moving on changing what needs changing.

I would challenge anyone on this. Look at the offense. Look at crowders relplacement. Look at ricky's replacement. Bush is diverse in this offense. He is young. Burnett can cover LB's and make plays.

Fact is, the biggest story behind the story is Bill Parsells and his reign on this team. He is now gone. Parsells set us back with giving Henning cover. There will never be stories written about this. maybe a quick hit blog or something, but no one in the league will buy that parsells set us back last year.

This is why sparano looked at himself in the mirror. He is on his own and has to make decisions that would not otherwise be liked by people he worked for himself. That much was written.

People do not understand change. People generally do not like change or accept that what is happening will result in success. That is where we are at right now. We made changes. The rest of the world has no clue what those changes mean. They dont really care, other than what vontae davis said as they laugh there *** off. well, lets get it on for NE! ESPN can suck an egg!

I see you disagree, but you seem to be "wishing" he changes things ... there are NO REAL changes, only hype & talk ...

O-Line stunk for 3 years

Special teams stunk for 3 years

Play calling stunk for 2+ years (this may change as he was threatened with firing, didn't get the bright idea from the mirror!! lol)

QB stunk for 3 years ... not entirely his fault, but he's not getting the most out of Henne he could.

Fires/Blames Henning when he's in charge & could have changed anything he wants. Proves he was aboard & backed it ... if not his own ideas!!

What exactly has Sparano instituted/done/achieved to say his coaching has had a positive impact?? We're looking down the barrel of another 7-9 Three-peat. THAT's why I say Fluffy Sparano is soft ... all talk & no action!!

Sparano leads us into the same-ole, same-ole every year!! Ireland & Ross see this BIG TIME!! Sparano said we're going to be a run-team (that's smart) ... & now we have a sub-par line. Fluffy, aaarghh!!
Short of some miracle, he's already gone. (Not me saying this, but Ireland & Ross' actions.)

we shall see.. as a fan, the healthy thing to do is hope for the best and root for your team.. when you get into the rankings and stuff alike you get caught up in the media. this team is way more talented than the jets (yea i said it!). I dont care about old plax and mark sanchez. Ive had the luxury to watch the jets games (roomate is a huge jets fan) and mark doesnt look much better... Just like joe namath was overrated so is dirty. people, the jets have oline problems... They couldnt run worth a damn vs the bengals. LT isnt the same as he used to be... shonn greene is still a fumbling machine. Not to mention, the so called overrated rated vontae davis shut down everyone he went against when playing the jets and patriots.. We have a squad! we have every piece of the puzzle, we just need our key players, vontae, sean smith, bell, dansby, wake, long, pouncey, marshall, henne, bess, and bush, to stay healthy. If we can manage to make that happen, we will make the playoffs.. F*%^ the media, just stay healthy and tough.. go fins

A team with a lame duck head coach and one of the Worst 5-10 QB's in the league.

Thats what they see

The Miami Dolphins and many of their fans settle for less. It's been that way for years. They get excited about insignificant successes when you consider the big picture. So-and-so makes the pro bowl. So-and-so can move up to 6th on the record books. We beat so-and-so and they were good recently, so let's just think more highly of ourselves. We're making progress in this area, so let's forget about how we are regressing in another. Basically, that way of thinking leads to nowhere and just keeps you afloat.

There are important decisions that must be made all the time. The players have to make those decisions on and off the field daily. The coaches do the same. And Miami has just been making the wrong decisions far too often to be contenders. They make excuses and settle for less. The fans do it too. It's been that way for years and years now. I wish it weren't the truth. But it is.

So the media will call it how it is. They won't give them any slack. Forget wishful thinking. They just keep it real. They are what they are. So if they somehow discover something that no one saw coming, Henne ends up being a runner at QB, Bush runs between the tackles an doesn't get injured, Marshall stays out of trouble and catches over 100 catches, Thomas ends up being a superstar, our secondary comes alive and is in the top 5 for INTs, Davis and Smith actually end up being the tandem to beat in the AFC, etc. If those things happen for real, then Miami will shock everyone and be in the playoffs. If they have surprises that aren't gimmicks, then they can surprise us. But you can't count on that. You would just be fooling yourself. They are what they are right now. And that is a team that no one expects to be over 8 - 8 and most people expect them to be less than that.

but as a fan, this is what i want. I want the media to keep putting us down and blindly accepting we stink and actually worse than last year.

this is a good thing. provided we do all you mention. I have faith it can happen. cus i trust my eyes and knowing the past.

If i am not going to repeat everything i have said on this message board, I think you know where i stand.

You like all the others are living in the past. Im ok with that. I look to the future, one without bill parsells and his golf playing antics as he ripps dolphin fans and this owner off with big money.

any fool can see the changes. The defense was a problem. We fixed it with Nolan. We definitely had problems with this offense. Now Henning gone and diff philosopy now in, which by the way, is an offense that many experts say is needed in this league to succeed. The change was made.

Special teams? well, we have more speed and a new rule that will favor us IMO. Rob Carpenter is no longer on this team and was cut midseason. He was responsible for two blocked punts in NE and Jets who looked at the film and picked up on carpenter. We were short on gameplan and right players to take that to the level we needed.

This draft has Ireland in his glory all over it. Pouncey corrects major problem in interior OL. Murtha developes to be better T for depth. Bush opens up offense (badly needed for all involved). Burnett covers the much talented TE teams within this division. i mean....i could go on and on and on....but if people live in the past, thats all you understand.

It stems from the Harbaugh debacle, the failed attempt to trade for Orton, and the biggest reason of them all we've gone 7-9 in back to back seasons. Until this team starts winning on a regular basis, we're gonna get bashed.

The world is simply looking at wins vs loses! We win majority of our games all this drama goes way.

Miami teams in general have a huuuge bullseye on them. They're hating just to hate. How many Dolphins-based analysts do the big media outlets have? Marino on CBS and Dan Le Batard on ESPN on PTI once in a while. ESPN is a joke with their love for the Patsies and the Jests.

I mean hell, I remember Bruschi last year saying that the Dolphin's defense was on par with the Bills, and it would be the two teams battling it out for 4-5 wins and the #3 spot in the division. He wasn't wrong about the #3 spot, but we were "in contention" with the Jets the past two years up until the final month when we deflated horribly, and they had the chips fall in the right place. I'm hoping JT goes off to one of these huge media outlets, and gives us some credit once he retires.

Watching these analysts on ESPN and NFLN make me want to projectile vomit everywhere. They can't stand Miami, and love to hate on us any chance they get.

I know how you feel. It gets old hearing the media keep speaking about our beloved Dolphins poorly and not mentioning all the positive changes and some of the good things that are happening.

I think it goes deeper than that. The national media always hates on Miami. They were positively gleeful when the Heat didn't win out. I think at least part of it is JEALOUSY. Of our climate our locale, our WOMEN. I have been in the Northeast and it can be a pretty damned depressing place. Did I mention the WOMEN?
