The Worst Thing to Happen to This Franchise is...

And yet the Dolphins were even worse before them... Ya, they stunk, but Ireland and company gets too much blame around here. They did manage a playoff appearance which is more than other regimes can say, including the current one.

This mess really all started with Wannstedt with THE worst drafts in Dolphins history (yes worse than Ireland's!) which included passing up on Brees and sticking with Fiedlwr against all reason

And yet Fiedler, despite his deficiencies, was the best QB we have had since #13. Passing on 3 franchise QBs just can't happen. QB is overwhelmingly the most important position in football, I would draft one YEARLY to find the one until we find one. No more 3 year experiments like Tannehill or Henne. I really wanted Cousins, Washington got him cheap. Why not us??? We were stuck on this Tannehill experiment.

The Robbie families dysfunction causing the team to be sold after Joe died is where this franchise started its decline. Like Ross, Wayne was passionate but clueless on how to run the team.

The worst thing that happens to this franchise is fans who post the day that we lose a game without letting some time pass. Made a comment about this yesterday. We are about the same level of a team as the bills. I would rather win the home game later in the season, than to have won today and lost the next one. Obviously I would have like to have won them both, but if we can win the 2nd one I will be fine with a split. It's not the end of the world.

the blame the fans guy is back.

that was quick.

LOL.

Anything that's happened to this franchise since Marino retired has been the "worst thing". Just so much fail it makes me sick.

Fiedler was a great leader, but insanely limited with his peanut arm. That team was STACKED with defense and RICKY BEASTMODE WILLIAMS. I bet even Tannehill could perform just as well as Fiedler did with that group. Fiedler was holding that team back and everyone saw it but Wanny, opting to draft a 3rd DB over a young QB.

I wonder if anyone remembers how bad of a beating Jay Fiedler gave to the dolphins with marino at the helm. Jay Fiedler and those jags whooped us 63 to 7. Even though he wasn't good enough, he was probably what kept us from totally failing back then.

We can go back in time, but the cause of our present day mess is ownership! The circus he put on during Harbaughgate, led to a mess the following year. Meatball acting like a scorned middle school girl refusing to play nice with anyone. The season going down the drain, and once again our clueless owner got it wrong! Dumping meatball putting in a stop gap coach that manage to rally this team to 6 worthless wins and Matt Moore "MVP". Then a half rebuild that resulted in the 3-5 HC candidate being hired. After 2 more seasons of mediocrity another half rebuild resulting in the 5-7th choice at GM.

Say what you want about the pill popping drunk at Indy, but he was smart enough to ride Painter and Caldwell to the toilet and come out with Luck.

Mark Brunell and Fiedler split the game at QB for that beatdown. Fielder only came into the the game in the 3rd quarter when the game was out of reach (it was 41-7 at halftime) and continued to pile on a Dolphin's team that had quit by the end of the first quarter. The final was 62-7. I wish I didn't remember that game so clearly.

Huzenga pushing out Don Shula. It spoiled the final 5 seasons of Dan Marino's career and set into motion the coaching carousel.

The game had passed Shula by when he retired.
It was justified.

I'd say the worst thing that has happened to this franchise is simply an inability to get the right people, with the right plan in place and then see it through. That's basically the hallmark of every organization in every sport that struggles for extended periods, and it certainly seems to apply to the Dolphins. The Dolphins appear to be the epitome of, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.”
