There is clearly no satisfying this fan base...

I for one don't really care who we pick as long as they succeed. I think the odds are against T-hill being successful as no other QB in league history (to my knowledge) has ever succeeded in the NFL after transitioning to the QB position so late. If we draft him, I will sure as hell hope he can be the first!

That doesn't mean we have to take a QB in the first round, it's no where near guarantee Tannehill will be good in the NFL. I rather take Osweiler later and fill a gaping hole for a sure starter on the 1st.

There is virtually universal consensus that Osweiler will NOT ever be a franchise QB in this league.

For those who keep screaming "next year, one more year, blah, blah, blah", I don't believe we would draft Barkley next year even with the top pick. We are as close as we are ever going to get to forcing the hand of a clueless gm who obviously is dedicated to the idea that one NEVER drafts QB in the first round. It is not on his sacred value chart. It "costs" too much.

Let's press on and make him do it NOW. Go Ross Go. "You will draft a QB with #8.... or your replacement will".

The fan base is justified to be bitter and not trusting to this admin. Sorry.

If we take Tannehill at #8, then those who think we are over paying (draft position wise) will be upset... If we take a guy like Coples then everyone who wants us to take a QB will be mad... Even if RT is gone at 8 then people will say we should have traded up for him...

Can we not just sit back, let it unfold and then pass judgement after some results show up? I'm just as frustrated as the next Dolphins fan, but its out of our hands...

Oh there is clearly a way to satisfy the fan base. Stop the absolute circus this team has become and put a winning product on the field which hasn't happened since Shula/Marino basically. That is a long time to not be good for some of us fans. Its quite simple. We went from legenday franchise to laughing stock of the league. I could care less who we draft as long as we win. Until we get our reputation and winning ways back, there is little/no happy in the fan base.

No..........I sat back for 12 years and watched this franchise pass on franchise QB's to draft Runningbacks, O-lineman and Cornerbacks that in some cases were flops, in other cases very average players.

Its high time it took a gamble on the most important position in football!

It's true...no matter who the Fins take tonight, there will be a lot of unhappy fans. There just seems to be no consensus pick right now. For me, the perfect draft would be trading down and getting a couple of additional picks, and then still getting either Tannehill or Weeden. If we trade down and miss out on both Tannehill/Weeden, don't draft a QB until late like Russell Wilson or Kellen Moore. I have no interest in wasting 2nd or 3nd round picks on guys like Osweiler, Foles, etc. That said, if we take Tannehill at #8, I'm fine with that.

On the other side of the coin is the group, and we can all list them, who no matter who we draft will defend it vehemently and proclaim it a success. Even the biggest cynics have their favorites in the draft and will be happy if that player is selected. At least their reaction is dependent on who we pick. Compare that to the group who will praise the draft irregardless of who we pick. Their reaction would be exactly the same whether we picked Ryan tannehill or Ryan Seacrest.

If Andrew Luck was out pick someone would bitch about how it should have been RG3 it’s the same with every team. Not everyone will be happy or in agreement. Looking at this from the Dolphins perspective they HAVE TO TAKE TANNEHILL AT 8 IF HE IS THERE. If the Dolphins don’t I will love to hear Irelands plan for finding our future QB. I don’t want to waste another 2nd round pick on one. I will actually applaud Ireland if we draft Tannehill, he could be a bust or he could be a franchise QB. The whole point is we need to a QB and Tannehill can sit for a year or so until he is ready. Not drafting a QB in the first round just means Ireland has no current plan for our future QB situation and that is disturbing to me.

Philbin brought a plan of his needs. Thats a little different then how Coaches in the past have approached the draft.
I think one of the past issues with our drafts have been the following:

Coaches dont have a good priortized plan of what they need with priorities and specific player types
We dont seem to have a good evaluation criteria of a players makeup. That yes or no answer Ireland asks for is not working. I think he needs a little more then yes or no from his scouts who may not be the best judge of character to begin with.
We dont put enough premium of playmakers versus good solid players in the early rounds 1 thru 3

That essentially has been the problem in the last 4 years and why we keep passing on players like Jimmy Graham and QBs and you name it.

And when he flops, and its no concern of yours if he does. This team with a new HC will be repeating this process in 3 years. But hey they drafted a 1st round qb w/ 2nd round talent.

Alright well tell me what your plan is for QB next year if we don’t address it with the 8th pick? Second round talent debatable as well. We shouldn’t even be in this position if the QB position would have been addressed for the last decade.
