Think a little will you...?

Perez...I don't know where you got the info that Brown was injured every season..that's not true...he has had some dings, as do most all RBs, but with Caddy as his RB mate, why would Tommy Tuberville have used Brown if he was dinged ?? What I'm saying is that while he was held out of some games in his college career, he could have played in most of them...but your points are well taken...I doubt the Raiders are the team that would be interested in RW, provided that Jordan plays like I expect he will. But, some team may be interested in a back-in-condition, wants-to-play, has-his-head-back-on-straight Ricky assuming that he does well this year. I see Saban easing him back into the game to avoid the inevitable injury situation with a guy making a comeback. My biggest concern about RW is that when have we ever seen a player come back successfully after this kind of "retirement." This is not the aging vet that sits out a year to allow his body to rejuvenate and makes a comeback...that guy kept his muscle tone and basic regimen going...This is not the come back from an injury or even back-to-back injuries, where again other than the injured area, the general muscle tone is maintained thruout a guys rehap...It's a very scary situation with this comeback....

Good post Perez, most of us see your point and as you said Nick has the last word on Ricky's return.....a lot can happen between now and the start of training camp...we will have to wait and see.......(and hope for the best)

Any questions GI Joes?

I have one.. Don't you think need to take it easy with the Discriptives here. "Huge" upside?? Boston, perhaps... Ricky is an out of shape, 28 year old, nut case, with a 4 game suspension attached to him for drug use. Those things you cant deny. Upside is limited IMO.
In a previous mildly bitter response to someone critisism you went on to say the move was "Brilliant" by Saban. That is over stating it a little. It is a solid decision assuming quite a few variables. Not brilliant.

Yes he's an a$$hole. Yes, he's a quitter. Yes, he's a pothead and self centered and a coward and has lost his desire to make yards and take on tacklers.

Yes, he's lost 35 pounds of muscle and God knows if he'll even last one pre-season game before he breaks or rips something on his body.
You said it your self my brother. I know you were conceding these points in the beginning of your arguement to let the readers know you were being objective about the matter, but IMO those things almost out weight hte positives. Please dont take this the wrong way, I thought a little ;) , and this is just a little friendly critisism.

Lamont Jordan... And a healthy and productive Ricky Williams WOULDN'T be an upgrade over him in 2006-2007? Hmmmm....
And you know this how, first off you assume that Ricky will come back and return to the same guy he was. If he doesnt Jordan is a big physical back with far more tread left on the tires.

Ronnie Brown can learn A LOT by just WATCHING Ricky practice with the first team offense. But yeah, I think Ricky would strike up a friendship with Brown just as he did with Minor and Konrad when he was here.

There is nothing Brown cant learn from the game film and coaching, that he could learn from Ricky. The coaching staff is going to be light years better than last years, and I will trust them to teach him as opposed to Ricky!

And yeah, on all football related matters I do believe that Having Ricky here would be better for Brown than NOT having Ricky here.

The only way this team is better with Ricky is if Brown gets hurt. He provides very good depth for us at RB. His presence could very well cause a division in the locker room, between the players that dont care about his return and the players that do. I dont doubt that Saban has taken this into account, but I also think majority may rule in this case. It seems that my opinions are in the minority about Ricky, and I am OK with that. But I do not forgive a person who quits on so many people, he didnt just quit on his teammates he quit on all of the fans. I would have had less of a problem with it if he did it like a man and quit after the season, but he didnt he waited until the worst possible moment and dropped the bombshell. I will not root for Ricky, I will not cheer for him if he scores the game winning touchdown in the Super Bowl. I will cheer the Dolphins, reguardless of situation but I am absolutely through with Ricky.

Shoot, all the money he owes, better make it a nickel bag...err.. back.

Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah. If he comes back so be it. If he wants to stay retired, live in a tent in Australia, so be it. Lets just stop the lengthy ricky posts.

So Nicnapoleon, if RW comes back and rumbles over the oponent like he used to, you're going to sit there and pout!

Sometimes I wish people would take their own advice. Yeah, he had a couple nagging injuries during his time at Auburn, but nothing serious. Name me one player who's played football and never had 1 type of injury.

I'll think a little bit.........OK I have thought about it, and the only thing that Ricky will teach Ronnie, he can learn from game tape! Ricky is very introverted, and wont be a very good mentor! Whats he going to teach him, to roll a fatty??? I want the quitter no where near my Phins!!! I hope we trade him for a Nathans Hot Dog! Also anyone who thinks Oakland would be interested, remember thay just signed Lamont Jordan.

There are 2 types of finn fans in this world one that want too see the team just win games and others who think the team is their family. Every one on the board fits in one of these categories. watching ricky breaka big one is all i need to catch that feeling, i smoke trees too and i know how hard it is when they put that pressure on u to stop so f Wanny and f the goverment for illegalizing the good medicine GO PHINS gotdammit :yell:

I think we will be alright with or without Ricky....Wanny unfortunately had no "plan B" when Ricky screwd us over...he put about 50% of the offense on Ricky's back....Saban won't make that mistake. If Ricky makes the team he won't be more than maybe 10-15% of the offense at most....maybe 10-15 plays out of about 60-75 the team has during a game. I say lets wait and see if Ricky can get into football shape, and secondly whether he really wants to come back and play....IF NOT, we have Ronnie Brown and what should be a better passing game, and hopefully a better defense. My main concern is with our Center position and O-Line, but everywhere else we seem solid with maybe the exception of needing another d-back.

I have read alot of posts regarding Ricky. I am also pretty new to the message board, but I wanted to state my opinion.

First of all......Ricky has shown that he will if he feels like it abandon his team. There is no excuse for that. However, let's look at what caused him to do it. There was obviously the drugs. But beyond that there was the philosophy that he was dealing with from the Dolphin coaches. For the previous two seasons that he was the running back for the Miami Dolphins, he ran with the ball more than any other back in history. That took its toll. And Ricky never wanted to do that. He never wanted to be the man for 75% of the plays on offense. He knew he was a great runner but he also knew that he could not do it on his own. The first year, he enjoyed alot of success and was dealing with it well, but he had a decent line to run behiind and a better than average OC in Norv Turner. However, his second year he was running behind a terrible line and was constantly being used in Wanstedt's 'three yards and a cloud of dust' playmaking pattern. This was even with playmakers such as Chambers and McMike on the field. When they again failed to make the postseason, Ricky believed changes would happen. However, when he realized that Wanstedt would be retained and that Norv Turner was moving on to coach the Raiders, he knew that he was in store for another year of merciless pounding. He had had enough. Norv Turner was the only one who could at least change things up to provide him some support. Now with Wanny using one of his handpicked individuals to run the offense, Ricky knew what he would have to deal with. The line had not been improved during the offseason and no other playmakers had been obtained. It was going to be Ricky for an insane amount of carries again. So he decided to quit. A bad decision and one that I do not condone, but we do not know how the physical pounding took its toll on Ricky. He was not strong mentally to handle it and needed to escape and he did it with his favorite plant.....:shakeno:

So I was thinking that now, with a new regime which includes Saban, who likes balance in all facets of the game, and Linehan as OC who utilizes different backs and different formations, Ricky is rediscovering the good parts of the game and how he could fit into that situation. He wants to help the team now and likes its direction. We have to give him the chance to prove he is committed. The team was bad last year and while I didn't like his decision, I don't think it would have made alot of difference. We may have won a few more games. And ask yourself, while the team took their lumps and most played valiantly against better talent on the other side in most cases, what person would have been pounded on more than Ricky if he had played? JT and Zach didn't get destroyed as much as Ricky would have. He made the decision for his health (minus the gonja) and his sanity (minus the gonja) and to find himself. He says he has and he wants to play football again. Let's see what happens!
