Dudeman said:Frerotte isn't crusty by any means at all. Yes, he is 34, but he has nowhere near the wear and tear of somebody that age. He hasnt taken anywhere near all the hits that somebody like Trent Green has taken, or Brett Favre, and they're a year older.
Plus, he's only signed to a 2 year deal anyway, with a very cheap contract for a potential starter. He can easily start for 2 years to make way for somebody thats drafted next year.
LOL using the same excuse you bashed when the argument AJ was already 29 and we respond yes but he doesnt have the wear and tear. LOL
Now with that, yes I agree Frerrotte has a few years, I believe 3 effective years. I just dont have much confidence that he is an answer. Use any basis you want but 4 games in relief doesnt make up for the 3 other starting opportunities he blew.
Like I said, right now if everything remains teh same, Gus should start. He is mored poised under presuure and that is a big factor. If AJ doesnt start showing teh same poise and comfort, then he shouldnt start. But to think that Gus is a better long term solution than AJ if AJ pans out is naive and wishful thinking IMO. I am not against Gus, I am not, I just cant forget that outside a few games in relief with a well oiled offense that had cohesion and several years together, he could not even stick with a team. Yes Gannon peaked late, but count the years and teh number of qbs that did what Gannon did, versus teh ones that were just plain busts.
