This coaching staff potentially hindering player development...

Anyone who thinks there aren't fair questions about the coaching staff is seriously delusional. The idea that the OP got shouted down immediately is a joke. To wit, you have players who played better before and after they were in Miami. You have defensive trendlines that do not look good. You have a team that has gotten beat by lesser opponents at critical times. You have a team that has come out flat too many times. It's fair to be concerned that Philbin is a middle level administrator and bureaucrat that might be perfect in parliament somewhere or working at some university in some ill defined, redundant, third layer, position that is the reason that tuition costs $60,000 per year now. But reading a cue card as a head coach in a locker room or that strained shout thing he does when he addresses the media in such an uncomfortable manner? There are concerns. You have a head coach that doesn't focus on production on the football field as the ultimate end game so he gets rid of Brandon Marshall, Reggie Bush, and Karlos Dansby. Now, reportedly, Rishard Matthews is on the outs, even though he pro rates out to an 80 catch season and he is a competitive kid who can drag defenders across the sticks or in to the end zone. Despite all this, Philbin has a comedy of locker room follies on his watch.

If Jimmy Harbaugh comes available as many expect, watch out. There's enough justification to make a move despite what the blind homers want to whine about. Philbin is in put up or shut up mode. He's had 3 years.

Actually last year Miller rated higher in pass protection than did Moreno. But few around here allow facts to get in the way of their agenda

I have no issues with Miller but he wouldnt make the Bills Roster...
He should not be a starter..
I love having him on the team..
Last year he should of had 8 more carries a game... But lets not act like he is groundbreaking..
RB is a position where a very good players can play or make plays on any team

:rolleyes2:

Yes Lamar Miller was our best running back which is about as useful as saying Jon Martin was our best tackle. Who gives a ****? Lamar Miller was horrid at pass protection and unlike Bush he seems to be allergic to getting into the endzone, I mean his most memorable play resulted in a fumble and a turnover. And for me his second most memorable play was dropping a walk in TD from the wheel route. And his third most memorable play was getting trucked just before Tannehill ate the dirt for the 50th time.

When I reminisce about Bush all I think of are spectacular open field moves that resulted in TDs. Or somebody like Lynch moving piles of men with his legs. I find it impossible to believe that all Lamar Miller needed was the right coach. A better o-line that would have opened up bigger holes? Sure, but thats on the GM.

Your on a Dolphins fan website so you have to expect backlash when you post negative things regardless of how true they are.

First off, I am not saying that this coaching staff is outright hindering it's players, I still believe Philbin is learning the ropes of the head coaching game and might evolve more and more into a very solid head coach with every year of new head coaching experience under his belt.

That being said, it is evident that Joe Philbin is not hesitant in stifling and taking control of players he does not like, like when he played a role in trading Brandon Marshall, releasing Karlos Dansby, and letting Reggie Bush walk without even making him an offer.

But the past is the past... we can't cry about that but...

I have been noticing how we seem to not correctly play and help out our own players, specifically, Lamar Miller and Rishard Matthews. Lamar Miller was our best RB last year, yet, Philbin still plugged Daniel Thomas into every snap he could severely limiting Lamar Miller's touches. But **** it because Lamar Miller is limited in certain scenarios.

Rishard Matthews on the other hand is a beast. He has been riding the bench since his rookie year, he came into his own this last year that they actually gave him playing time, and then after he has the best game of his career, we limit his snaps the next few games. And this year it comes out that the coaching staff has not been happy with him, but not because of his performance on the field. What a surprise!

If we traded or let go of Lamar Miller and Rishard Matthews they would become superstars somewhere else. Lamar Miller and Rishard Matthews need extra playing time this year, they are ready.

I agree completely about Rishard Matthews. The dude played like a boss vs the BUCS on Monday night and after that we didn't really see him too much. Philbin needs to get past this petty **** that's going on between the two of them and find a solution so he will stay on the field. Sorry Philbin, not every player isn't going to be as obedient as you wish. Being a head coach you're going to work with all types of players and the many personalities that come along as well.

So Ireland came and told Philbin who was going to be the starters on game day?? I can believe Ireland was the shooter on the grassy knoll, and was the sole cause of global warming, but now you're just piling on.

I was talking about Sherman big guy. I thought that was self explanatory to most that Ireland doesn't determine who plays in game day but apparently not.. Lol

for the record Ireland was frustrated with the fact philbin wouldn't put the young players in the game to see what they really had. this included miller the year before last.

My biggest questions marks on this coaching staff is Joe and Zac Taylor. This is Joe's year to step up and be replaced. I am not sure Zac is the right QB coach for Ryan to develop and take the next step. You could also put Jeff Nixon the RB's coach in there as well.

I agree with that John. Really hope Lazor takes a "hands on" approach to the quarterback position. After what he did for Foles last year in Philly Zac should be just taking notes.

I can understand a coach wanting his rookies to learn the game before stepping on the field, but sometimes you have to throw them out there to get their feet wet.. Develop your players, but test their ability once and a while. You never know, a guy might just be game ready first time out...

And then you look at RT.. They gave him the call to start rookie year even when he didn't win the job.. It was "even" in camp. Not saying it was the wrong choice, but they are all strange and inconsistent decisions...

The OP is correct, the past few years we haven't given the young guys enough time to show what they can do. All the way back to when Hartline came in. We didn't play him all that much and he was solid... Same with Matthews, Jordan, Donald Thomas, Dallas Thomas, Randall, Sims, Davis, Taylor, Walden, Kearse, Vernon, Miller, Egnew, etc etc. Some were cut outright even before they could show what they could do..

It's frustrating to say the least.

Borland in your second rd?

I get what you mean but that goes back way before this regime.

If the draft actually went the way I wanted... but it never does.....

Yeah, it's an organization issue. One thing is consistent is that we hardly ever keep or develop our own drafted/signed guys.

well this is actually not true....

@TB snaps: 43 total. 36 pass, 7 run.
SD: 57 t, 41 p, 16 r.
CAR: 55 t, 39 p, 16 r.
@NYJ: 45 t, 31 p, 14 r.
@PIT: 42 t, 26 p 16 r.
NE: 48 t, 35 p, 13 r.
@BUF: 46 t, 36 p, 10 r.
NYJ: 58 t, 38 p, 20 r.

so maybe next time you check the facts before posting bull****....just because you don´t receive the ball in football doesn´t mean you don´t play....
