This game will tell me alot about Tannehill & Philbin. Can they lead us there?

I'm not saying we are going to win but and this may sound crazy. Our offense matches up really well against the Panthers. Their Dline is beasting and will beat up on our line but Their secondary is their weakness. They do not have the guys to take on Wallace, Hartline and Matthews. Clay could be neautralized by Davis and Kuechley but if we stay in nickel and throw short passes right from the start we will be able to move the ball. The Pats actually moved the ball in this way and I don't think their receivers are nearly as good as ours. We have to pick our spots to go deep in this as well. Three step long throws could work because Wallace creates seperation so quickly. I don't think we will be able to run at all but I would put the pressure on their dbs with WR Screens all day. I would throw to my receivers the first 10 plays. Loosen them up. I would move the pocket tons and wear out theri big guys as their depth is not that great.

On Defense, Jordan should play every snap this game as purely a shadow for Cam. Every play. Have Jordon do lots of delayed blitzes. Have Wake and Vernon contain and sick our DTs to push the pocket. Make Cam throw without his feet. Very inaccurate when he just uses his arms. NO stunts or twists on 1st and 2nd down. Don't create running lanes. Grimes and Smith will be a nice battle all day.

Carolina's going to sit back in a Cover-2 and make Tannehill hit the check down. If Tannehill hesitates, the pressure will be there (and with only 4 rushers), and our WR's, TE's, and RB's are going to have to make tough catches and protect the ball. IMO, this is a terrible match up for Miami.

That is why this game might be a good evaluation of Philbin. The way to neutralize the DL advantage is to go heavy set for at least 60% of the plays. We need either 2 TE sets or 6OL and a TE. It should be a single back set. Dare them to load the box, and put it on Wallace and Hartline. Max protect with two WR sets. Let's see some coaching.

Good point and you are 100% correct, it will be good evaluation of Philbin. However, I just hate going "Max Protect" all the time because only 2 receivers are running patterns....thus it limits what you can do and the defense gets a HUGE advantage coverage-wise. If Wallace and Hartline can not beat double coverage the Phinz will be TOASTED against the Panthers if we go Max Protect :-(

The NFL investigation is a distraction this week that is too hard to overcome. The staff has found little ways to get the players to rally around each other during these tough times.

Plus, practice was cut short today supposedly as part of the late season sked...yeah right Joe...it was cut short because people are being interviewed about this Martin controversy.

Not so sure about that, the players are so sick of hearing about Pu$$ygate they are past it,maybe the very very small group who are in the sites of the investigator are distracted, the rest are not.

Mike Wallace "I'm so sick of hearing about this, It's not draining us or anything, but it just seems like the same stuff over and over. You get tired of hearing it. It is what it is, though."

I like this match up for getting a few big shots down the field to Wallace, but more so for Matthews and Clay over the middle. Also if you break through cover 2 defense at the line,it's big gains in the running game.I'm looking forward to this game and all the hype...

I'm not going to read too much into this game. I don't think we can compete with them up front and that's not on anyone but Jeff Ireland.
Can't win this game without the plan of Dion Jordan working out faster.

Yes they are distracted. You can only argue to what extent.

Why do you like it for getting a few big shots down the field?

Clay and Matthews will get opportunities, but they're going to get harder and more often than they have to this point. This Carolina D is starting too look like the Bears D's of the 00's.

Odd enough.

I feel this will be a very, very close game.

Apart from the Saints game, positive or negative we always seem to play to the level of our competition.

Not buying that,look at Carolina's schedule...they are good,but beatable...

Carolinas on a roll, and we are in their path. I'm failry certain we go 8-8 this year. I love the Bengals, and Chargers victories, but nothing about this team shows me any signs of positive continuity. Blame the coaches or players, but we are just not ready to compete for the playoffs. We find ways to lose games.

Agree, thats why I put some manies on the phins getting 4 points. Plus, the Panthers like to play up or down to their competition too.

I don't know if anybody else here saw the Panthers/Bills game but they put up a graphic close to the end of the game where they showed The Bills were bottom 5 in the league at giving up the lead at the end of the game and The Panthers were the worst in the league. On cue the Panthers scored within the last 2 minutes or whatever to take the lead and The Bills marched down the field for a game winning touchdown at literally the final seconds.

game won't tell us nothin, cuz we're still on "Ire-time". we get us a GM who knows how to eval/scout/collect talent & depth at every position, then we can gauge what potential the coach/qb we have truly is (imo)
