This has to be a joke!

This was out of ESPN's PFW Whispers section...
• The CB competition between Drayton Florence and Sammy Davis for the job opposite Quentin Jammer in San Diego never materialized, as Florence clearly outplayed the former first-round pick in camp. As of this writing, Davis was in a battle with the surprising Jamar Fletcher for the team's nickel CB job.

"the suprising Jamar Fletcher"....his drafting marked the beginning of the end of the Dolphins as we knew them. Wanny's first MAJOR draft blunder....many more followed.

My worst fear is that Fletcher becomes the next T-Buck. Remember how disapointing he was in Green Bay, only to later excel with us, the Jets and Pats? T-Buck was as big a bust as there ever was in his first few years.

The thing about the Avery selection is that Randy Moss was still on the board...JJ's worst draft blunder ever!!!!!!!!:shakeno:

When Avery was selected, Moss was off the board.

However I do agree that it was one of JJ's worst draft blunders.

Good for him. I hope he continues to turn it around.

Yeah, but we traded down. Before we traded down, we could have picked him. After the trade, he was already gone.

500 posts! :woot:

Fletcher was considered a future pro bowl cover corner coming into the draft.

Didn't Fletcher Get Waived Yesterday ? I Thought I Saw His Name On The Ticker Wire During A Game I Was Watching .... Could Be Wrong But I Could Swear I Saw Jamar Fletcher Along With A Whole Buch Of Other Names...

Came nowhere close to filling a need on that team....Madison & Surtain were in place and QB was a much bigger issue. Now I know that hindsight is what it is but that was just one, of many questionable personnel moves DW made.

He may be playing OK now but fighting to be a nickel CB surely isn't a position worthy of a 1st Rd. pick. He definitely isn't the answer of a questionable secondary in San Diego.

YA BUT WE TRADED DOWN BEFORE MOSS WAS OFF THE BOARD, IF THE FINS WOULDN'T HAVE TRADED DOWN HE WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WITH THE FINS ORIGINAL PICK ...

Jamar was a mistake for US to take him...he did not fit into Wanny's D at all. He was always a better zone cover guy than shut down corners that the Wanny/JJ D requires. Yes, he was a blunder for us, especially with SM and PS as the starters. He's not totally w/o talent though...

Yatil Green wasn't a terrible pick - if you have a crystal ball and know he is going to blow his knee out every year it is...but at the time he seemed to fill a HUGE need on this team of a WR with speed opposite McDuffie

And JJ said he wouldn't have traded down had he known Moss was going to fall to 19

Jamar Fletcher was an amazing football player in college. In fact, most credible sources regard his career in college one of the best for recent cornerbacks. I still think he can be a good player in a system that uses him correctly.

You my friend are very smart....IMHO: I think he lost the "swagger" that he needs to have as a CB in the NFL. Not criticizing the Fins organization, but I think Wanny and Co. had a lot to do with his "downfall" in a Fins uniform. You would think having arguably 2 of the best corners in the NFL could help him, but I think it did the opposite- it took away his confidence and the ability to learn 1 v 1 coverage. Hope he snaps out of it. You dont have numbers like him in college if you dont know how to play....just my thought.

And yet he's still a nickleback and he was a first round pick, that qualifies at least as disapointing.

He was never a fit for our system, period. All the analysts agreed on this on draft day...he was never exposed to a press coverage-type scheme. What he did in college was immaterial. Bad pick, worse player.

No. I know exactly what you're talking about though 'cause I initially had the same reaction. I later saw it again and noticed that it was a list of those players with birthdays. :D
