This is how close the top 9 players in the draft are rated

Nick Saban is saying he is going to stick to the value chart....and I'm sure he will stick to the value chart....THIS YEARS' value chart.

If he can move down to the 7th spot and still get Brown Benson or Williams, which shouldn't be any problem at all, he's going to do it for whatever he can get.

Because THAT is the value.

Not just in my mind, but in Nick Saban's mind as well.

And you know this how? Because he said so, he also said he want's Smith, no wait it's Edwards, no it's a RB, no he wants to trade down.

Waht do you expect him to say, sure I will bend over and you can give me what you want.

Then you have missed out on the whole point of what I am saying, I said straight out if Smith is who you want then you don't trade or if you do it better be worth it. If a RB is what you want and they are all considered equal then you make the trade.

Actually I think you read that in the wrong way....Keith doesn't want to trade out....trading out means he doesn't get Smith...of which is a long shot anyway.

If you can acquire the real player you want three or four picks lower...you be a fool not too....same player....lower cap cost. Just smart all the way around.

Keith...first...you have no idea what has or hasn't been offered...so whats your problem? If the Vikes offer the 7th, 49th, 120th, 191st and next years first...you would be unhappy? There's nothing thats say's it has to be any certain way for value...as long as the value of the picks are close. Thats up to the Dolphins...take it easy.

Let's add them up.

2nd pick = 2,600 points

7th pick = 1,500 points
49th pick = 410 points
120th pick = 54 points
191st pick = 15 points

Next year's first round pick is only worth their second round pick this year, so we will give them 410 points for that pick.

Total, that package is worth 2,389 points.

The second pick is worth 2,600 points. That's not value. No deal.

The Chart is generic, if it was adjusted from year to year it would make a little more sense, but how can you decide one year when you have 3 players that are head and shoulders above the rest, and another when you have the top 9 that are pretty much equal that the 7th pick is worth x.

The values are not taking into consideration the strength of the players.

Is PFW's ratings on a scale of 10?

The highest grade they give is a 9, and I don't believe they have given a grade of 9 very often.

Lets see...you get the player you really want...you get an additional 3 picks this draft and a first next draft....and you think it's not enough? A first round pick next draft and all your giving is 410 points....the value for the 32nd pick in the 1st round is 590....even if you believe the Vikes would win the superbowl...your under cutting the value of the pick...big time...even if they do better and pick at the 25th pick next year...that pick is worth 720.

The strengths of the players is irrelevant when it comes to the value of the pick.

No, because the value is not there.

I detailed an acceptable trade in my last article.

Miami gets:
7th pick = 1,500 points
18th pick = 900 points
80th pick = 190 points

TOTAL = 2,590 points

Minnesota gets:
2nd pick = 2,600 points

That's value.

Unbelievable. You'd be a fool not to take that in this years draft with a new head coach. That trade would lay out the foundation to build on now and in the future. Next year we'd be one of the lucky teams that have 2 1st rounders. The difference in points is 210, which equates to a mid 3rd rounder.

There is no way that the value of players in this draft from 1-7 changes as much as that value chart indicates.

Each player grades out fairly equal...so there is no way the first choice is worth 2600 points and the 7th is worth a 1000 points (or whatever the stupid chart says....)

In this draft, if the top pick is worth 2600 points then the 7th pick is worth at least 1900 points...

I agree with you completely.

No wait! They'd have to throw in a couple shoulder pads and helmets to make up for the 10 points...otherwise NO DEAL.
