This is starting to look bad for miami dolphins

National response to Sherman's firing is not good folks! Responses range from people calling him a "scapegoat", to the "fall guy" to the calling Philbin spineless and a back stabber. Whaoo!! Haven't we gone through this step before? Didn't they fired Dan Henning years back wasn't the result the same? What we are missing here is a "thorough cleansing."
The team needs a fresh start, the common denominator is still lurking.

Cleanse damn it, cleanse! This rinse, lather and repeat process is not working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What does the national viewpoint of this move have to do with anything? Sherman had to go, whoever thought differently is a dolt.

FOX radio, detroit 1130 am, a couple of guys with really bad voice. They are still on btw. They were the same guys that insinuated that johnathan Martin might be gay. Not that I cared!

Sounds like local radio to me. Shouldn't they focus on the Lions finishing the year 1-6?

What does anyone in Detroit know about football? Unless you're a Spartan fan.

LOL we were 27th in offense scored 7 points our last 2 games with playoffs on the line what do you expect?

Sherman was hired to run the offense...he did a poor job. Whoever is calling Sherman a scapegoat is just trying to spin a story.

Bottomline the guy didn't do his job, so he lost it. Should others get fired...maybe so but Sherman was near the top of the list IMO.

Agree with you 100% Dude. The Dolphins need a total cleansing. Not another year of Ireland? I cant believe it, this means another set back year, it also means are starting running back next season will be Daniel Thomas, and starting Tight End Michael Egnew. Philbin is not the Guy. Need a new Owner, Coach, and GM, Stadium, and things might start to turn around, until then no playoffs, again.

Henning wasn't fired, he retired. This move is what the other poster called it, a cosmetic change, but national media will always give you the doom and gloom. Fact is Philbin needed to get away from Sherman. He needed to make a statement and he did, unfortunately I don't think it will be enough until I see who he replaces Sherman with. That could go a long way in a change of public opinion.

And doom us for another 3-5 should he put in someone who has no experience. Unless Philbin is going to be more hands on, how could he possibly turn over the entire offense to a guy who has zero experience. If this occurs it screams incompetence and my opinion of Philbin will have changed.

J4TR......we are letting a HC with zero experience chose the entire coaching staff without any say what so ever. Done that twice and we are 15-17 . Heck 3 times is the charm....right? Ross' deal and why Ireland will remain.

Ross can stay - if he is willing to get rid of everyone else (except Kevin Coyle who has done a very good job with this defensive despite what the sheep on this board think).

We don't spend money they call us cheap, we spend money they say we are not being smart. When it comes to a Boston Centric sports media, we will be damned if we do and damned if we don't

Who cares what the national media says......they mostly hate us anyways. Sherman was a big part of the problem this year and the play calling was terrible at times. Also, Tannehill needs a different set of eyes on him making adjustments and tweaks to his game. This is good for all involved.

it needed to be done **** what everyone else thinks

I thought everyone wanted Sherman gone. Now there is criticism because he was fired?

All the Ireland haters are realizing that Ireland is most likely going to remain....so it is par for the course. I still stand by my thought process that we need a OC with experience. Someone who has molded the offense to the talent they have while each individual position is built over several years of draft and trades. We need depth and a healthy cap. We have the cap, we need to improve in other areas. Handicapping this organization by hiring a OC with no experience will set us back years. We will see soon enough because they will pull the trigger fast. This hire by Philbin will define who he is as a head coach and will ultimately determine what type of NFL coach he becomes. If I was him I'd hire someone with experience. I just hope it doesn't become the blind leading the blind. If it does that's on Ross!
