JETS FACING REALITY ON PENNINGTON

A league source tells us that the New York Jets quietly are becoming resigned to the looming-and-growing possibility that quarterback Chad Pennington won't be ready to play on opening day.

If Pennington can't go, the ball will fall to (gulp) Jay Fiedler.

This was on the PFT website so take it with a grain of salt.

Would he go from #1 backup to 32nd best starting quarterback?

I think Volek should be in there also he shows some good stuff when McNair goes down.

Forgot about Volek.. That takes Fiedler off the list!

You do realize his contract was going up a lot and he didn't want to renegotiate

We didnt want him anyway Saban isnt stupid, Yes he is a good back up, nothing more.

We had to get him out of Miami... period. He was CLEARLY not the answer to the future of the organization and too much of a distraction to hold on to as a backup. Also, his contract was very large and we were in very bad cap trouble. While he is a very good back up... He had to go... end of story...

Nasty

(P.S. - Jon Kitna is the best back-up league... not Fidler)

No because he is better than anything San Fransisco has, oh Jake Plummer, Eli Manning, Grossman, and Losman. I'd put him on par with hasbeen Bledsoe too.

There was too much water under the bridge to keep Feidler as a backup.Besides his contract was hard to take.

Anyway I am looking forward to intercepting his sideline floaters for points on our behalf for a change.

Our DBs will know how to play him. They faced him in practice and they know his weaknesses.I doubt the Jets will beat us while he is at the helm.

thank god we got rid of fiedler

im with ya, it was fun when we were winning but even then we should of won some more games that we lost cause of him

fiedler's ship has long since sailed. he needed a new situation, and we needed a new qb.

I don't have anything against Jay as a person, as a QB he was great about twice a year and the rest of the time all you wanted to do was pull out your hair. If he wasn't playing for the J-E-T-S I'd cheer him on, but as it is, I hope he fails miserably.

That was a terrible list..

The list should have been..
1.Kitna
2.Garcia
3.Flutie
4.Holcomb
5.Fiedler

I agree with this list completely but I think Garcia will be starting on Detroit by the end of the season

on a tampa sports radio show today they were talking about pennington's injury and they said he was haveing problems...said something about the type of injury and recovery has forced him to change his throwing motion. and we all know he never did have the strongest arm around. so that said i have to assume ol fiedler's gonna get plenty of action, he may do alright though he always has been pretty good at completeing passes to jets players....
