This May Be Lame But ...

I watch mostly alone but sometimes have select guests over who are similarly psyco. My ex once had some of her friends over (against my advice and with concrete behavior rules in place) After ignoring the only warning they were going to get, they were told to leave and when the ex gave me **** she became ex. On communication during the game, never again, the last time I took a phone call at half time was the Jets collapse. Go Fins

I'd like whoever reads this to describe the typical experience watching a Dolphins game.

I'm more comfortable alone without anyone of adverse faith or weak of faith.
I watch alone because people give up too easily on the Phins if they're behind and I'm big on the Power of Belief at work. I don't turn it off until it's completely over.

I don't construct shrines ( I used to place a Miami hat on top of tele.) and I hate food while I'm playing unless if it's a couple of oranges. I feel that any other pleasure dulls my rooting ability.

I will try to avoid arguments / fights before the game.

The phone doesn't get answered and if I know who calls during a game I will deliberately avoid them for some time, knowing that they know when to call and when not to call, with respect to Dolphin's games.

I don't like to get on any one player or become negative during a game and the only thing I consume is a large coffee while watching. Beer or anything else that might impair my intuitive flow - not good.

What's your experience like while watching week in / week out a Miami Dolphins game.

Oh, and I can't forget to include the commercials. Commercials and places they bring you in between play are completely part of it all. Life is great.

OK, tee off.

You sick F@@@! ..............................NO BEER?

I must consume some of Rickys special green and orange high power medicine turn on the t.v. and recieve 0 distractions

It did happen a couple of times last year.

Didn't help though.

I came to the conclusion that it was not me, it was the o-line. :)

Thats a good cover for ........."The Dolphins were pissing me off so bad I just couldn't watch another game".........very clever!;)

My mom and Dad are both serious Dolfans which is crazy so i usually watch with them. I know its weird...but my mom is the true screamer. she will watch the whole game yelling at the tv and things.my dad is too civilized for that and treats the finz as entertainment. if they dont entertain,he turns it off or changes the channel until my mom walks over smacks him and takes the remote back

Several years back I moved into a house where I could not get my big screen TV in the house so I put it in my garage and hung all my Dolphin stuff on the wall. We have a 3 car garage so my wife let me take a 3rd of that and make it my Dolphin Area. I prefer to watch it alone. The garage would get hot so I would have the door open and the tv cranked up so all my neighbors could hear the game as I had Charger Fan, raider Fan, and 49er Fan all around me. I'd put my Dolphin Flag on the flag pole. I would get too loud screaming at the TV my wife would always try and close the door as she said it was embarrassing. I didn't care what they thought. I now have a different house and a brand new 65" High Def in the house. There is no phone on Sundays. Wife and kids leave. Once in a while I'll have others over but I'd rather not. I wear a different jersey depending on my vibe that morning.

I can't wait to get this season started!

I usually watch the games with my pops. We both get pretty worked up during the game whether good or bad.

When i'm alone watching the game i'm a lot more violent, when the team makes mistakes.

And yet none of that has any bearing what so ever on the outcome of the game.

I do most of what you guys do except that in Canada the game is on 2 channels sometimes. The Sunday Ticket channel and the local feed is we are lucky. Whenever this happens I tend to switch channels if we are doing bad hoping that the switch will make a difference in perfromance

Last year all 300 channels I have made no difference

Although I do not follow the letter of the law like you seem to, but I do follow the nature of your post. To hold the Dolphins game time as sacred. I watched games alone forever. When bars started to have satelite packages to show games I went to these things, usually early and occassionally the Dolphin game would get nixed from the bars showing menu. I could not stand being bothered during the game, by say waiters or other fans who were not dedicated to the Dolphins.

When I could afford it and could get it I got the NFL package - bliss arrived - then I got married and now I have 2 babies. Babies do not allow for watching when a game comes on so I now Tivo. As painful as it may be to know a game is being played and I cannot see it do to family duty, when I can watch the game on Tivo I have loved it. I do fast forward the commercials, since personally I cannot stand them. and generally enjoy rewinding and replaying moments in the game over and over and over again.

Suffice it say that my way of watching is not yours, but I deeply respect where you are coming from and could imagine that if it had to be, you and I could enjoy a game together fully. Hopefully this year will bring lots of joy.

good thread. i have to go to sports bars because it keeps me on my best behavior to be with a group. and that tends to keep losses from ruining my sundays, weeks, whatever...

i used to go to a place in west hills, ca, called "casa di pizza." it was full of dolphin and packer fans. but now i'm on the lookout for a new one since i've moved. any fans near pasadena know of a good sports bar over here?

the phone question is interesting. my phone tends to ring more during dolphins games, especially the prime time ones. i think people see that the dolphins are on and think of me. i wish they'd write themselves a note to call me the next day, but we can't always get what we want...

as for the clothing thing: i'm a little superstitious about that, too. and one good getup i had was maybe a little foreshadowing of the ricky retirement: i have a black shirt that features snoop offering a joint to share, and when i'd wear that underneath my ricky jersey he would have a great game.

I agree to a certain extent. I drink plenty of beer. Im from Pittsburgh a hard working blue collar city and im in the military. Im a grown *** man. I feel its my necessity to get liquored up during the games. Oh and ill dip too. I relate all forms of pleasure with the dolphins. I do like to be alone and i dont like to be distracted. I like your points but the coffee thing.
