This place is so bi-polar it's ridiculous

Yea today's game was rough, it was hard to watch. We didn't play good in all three phases. We were down 9-3 when spiller returned that kick. Our offense couldn't move the ball, our defense couldn't come up with big stops in the second half, special teams allowed a blocked punt, a td and fumbled one away. Philbin threw in the towel before halftime.

That right there is our 2014 Miami Dolphins... couldnt of said it any better... We'll win a few, there's no doubt... but we cant compete at the end of the year for the reasons quoted above

I certainly wasn't one of those people predicting a blowout win, but I was hoping we wouldn't get our ass handed to us AGAIN. Let's not kid ourselves here, Buffalo is not a good team, so if losing badly to an average team is our bar for acceptability, then we can go ahead and pencil in another 7-8 win season. Not acceptable for me, but about what I expected with our HC, QB to go along other significant holes.

It don't matter how bad a team is...an y given Sunday...also divisional games are always tough games.

I don't know why people were letting themselves get so high after week 1. If you've been a Dolphin fan for more than 3 years you should know to be cautiously optimistic. You can't get too high or too down on this team or you will be in roller coaster mode. That's how life is with a mediocre, inconsistent 8-8 team.

Bi Polar? how about reacting to what happens? If I fell, and you walked by and helped me up, I would thank you. If the next day I fell again, and you spit on me, I would punch you in the face. Bi Polar, no, reacting to what has happened yes.

Last week people had a reason to give praise. This week they have a reason raise hell. You do that over a 16 game schedule and your 8-8, and miss the playoffs, sound familiar?

The problem is they beat New England. Even I thought, hmmm, maybe they will play with heart and so forth.
You can see what a big win does to someone, because I have thought all off season Miami would be last in the AFC East. Now I totally think that again.
Miami can win some games and beat some good teams, but the are average. Tannehill can win some games and make some plays, but he is average.
Anyone who thinks, Miami is playoff bound right now is nuts. We are an average team, with no super playmakers, injuries new and old, suspensions and game planning will become increasingly easy against us.
We were owned today.

I know everyone already knows how finheaven rolls, especially after a loss but all week long you got people acting like we're making the playoffs and now after week 2 the seasons over..let's start a head coach search thread, lets trade this guy, fire that guy..etc.

Yea I get it, it was bad...emotions were high after the big win last week and today was a letdown. There's still 14 games left. I'm not ready to throw in the towel.

But the thing that gets me about this site is the week to week knee jerk reactions. We beat the patriots last week and everyone on finheaven was pumped, talking playoffs...talking about how great lazor is and how we scored 30 in the first game. Talked about how much heart and emotion the team played with. ALOT of people said the team had a different feel about them.

Now after week 2 we suck, the seasons over. Typical finheaven.

And I'm not saying people don't have a right to be pissed because this game was bad and I'm pissed too but I'm not gonna write the team off after one loss to a tough division rival with a bunch of playmakers. Even when the bills sucked they played us hard. All week long people were talking about how good buffalo d line is,but once the game started and Tannehill got sacked you guys acted surprised.

This is common message board reaction. The issue is that Miami hasn't been successful in years so when they lose, fans think the season is over after a few games. Winning teams lose too but those fans, the sane ones, don't quit on the team.

It's the annual mediocrity we here are sick of.

So if their qb and hc is so great why are they 0-2?

I'm guessing you didn't watch the games. But hey, maybe you're right, maybe Brees and Payton suck, despite their SB ring (that's something given to the team that wins the Super Bowl, in case you are not familiar with what lies at the end of the playoffs, which we very rarely qualify for). :bobdole:

In any case, I'll fill you in on what happened, they lost on the road to a rival. You know, one of those games that is always close, regardless of how good the other team is. It's basically the Dolphins vs. the jests, which can always go either way. Then they lost to a team with a very good defense (Cleveland) with the help of a very ****ty defensive effort on their part.

As others have said, it's an extension of the team being bipolar. If the team was consistently good or consistently bad everyone would know what we are working with. Instead the team is consistently inconsistent, which is maddening. Because we're always close to mattering the fans are always close to either side of the fence as to whether we have the right personnel to get the job done. Just as you start to resign yourself to another year of garbage they go out and beat the **** out of a team like the Patriots. Just as the team starts to give you hope, they go out and **** the bed.

Thumbs down for this thread because its absolutely ridiculous to act like most of us weren't pretty unhappy with the play of our QB last week and a minority of posters basically said "STFU we won". This team could have won 50-20 last week if they had better execution but bad execution means you are living on borrowed time.

I don't know an educated poster on here who hasn't realized that Joe Philbin is a terrible NFL coach because he takes a team talented enough to beat the NFL's best and finds a way to lose to the NFL's worst just as often in other games.
I don't know an educated poster on here who hasn't realized finally that Ryan Tannehill is only 2/3 of the QB a franchise QB should be and that his chances of getting that last 1/3 are next to none.
I don't know an educated poster on here who hasn't realized that Kevin Coyle's defense by the numbers is pretty good, and yet it is a below .500 defense not just because of the offense, but also because it loses in key situations that are the difference between winning a game and losing more often than a top defense should.

The only bi-polarity I see is on the field, and that is with the way a Philbin coached team can dominate a contended one week and lose to a bottom feeder the next.

BTW, commenting on the failures of Tannehill and Philbin are not a 2 game sample size, it's a 34 game sample size already. I can guess how this season is going based on statistical evidence and the team re-affirming that evidence by continuing the tendencies that have caused that.

So after one week were afc east champs...after week 2, seasons over....overreactions in the biggest way after both games.

Just like the Dolphins team. Beat the Patriots and then get destroyed by the Bills. Seems like I've seen this show before. I guess why even bother to get up on this team when we can expect the same results. Some probably hope that things will finally change for the better only to be smacked in the face with the reality that these are the same ole Dolphins and nothing has changed.

I watched bits of Saints/Cleveland. Brees got **** on in that game, including a bad pick-six. Saints QB and HC are much better than the Dolphins QB and HC, but they lost today because the Browns defense crushed them for most of the game, not because of Rob Ryan's defense.

The difference is that the Saints have won a Super Bowl with that HC/QB and been elite in the passing game for several years with that combo. Dolphins have not. Benefit of the doubt.

Holy **** I couldn't agree with this post more. Every time we win everyone here acts like we're playoff bound and then when we lose it's always, "Fire Philbin" and "Tannehill sucks." We always play lousy against the Bills for some reason (especially on the road) this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, can we please stay level-headed for once?
