This should be our Wildcat Next year...

I think picking up tebow would be intrugiung how would a defense defend against these trick plays: and how many teams would get thier #3 Qb involved.

Line up Penny and Tebow as QB/RB in shotgun
Right before snap send tebow out as WR, quick pass to him like he is going to run, and then throw deep to ginn :)
or vise versa, altho penny wont have the threat of running like tebow.

it would be versatile offense and even if penny or henne went out we would have a solid #3 because of getting tebow involved in our offense occasionaly.

Wasting a #1 pick on Tebow to do this! No.
If this is your absolute fetish the same could be accomplished with Randle El, Matt Jones, Hines Ward, Arnaz Battle, Drew Bennett, Michael Robinson. Heck we can give Andre Ware a shot! All cheaper options, without wasting a #1 pick.

What I'm saying is this play is absolutely availible with any person who has a half way decent arm. Theres more surpise to throw then Tebow would be, and better runners.
Plus this play is already run in the NFL multiple times during the years.

This Tebow thing is an absolute pipe dream to waste a 1st rounder on basically what are trick plays.

I absolutely CANNOT stand Tim Shebow. This guy is so ridiculously overrated it's not even funny anymore.

i wouldnt use a round 1 pick either or 2 but a 3rd or 4th i would.

and you just obviously hate florida or something, because the guy is a heck of an athlete.
and dont say ima florida fan cuz i like Maryland.

I actually think it will be closer to the 4th than 7th. Michael Robinson (QB-PSU) was taken in the 4th round #100 overall as a RB. Eric Crouch (QB-Neb) was taken in the 3rd round 95 overall as a WR. Robinson or Crouch did not have near the athletic ability in which White shows.

I'm not saying taking White would be a good pick in the fourth (I think he should be ~6-UDFA because he has never played the postion he will play in the NFL. Really neither of these previous picks really panned out. Robinson better then Crouch obviously. I still do not think that stops someone from rolling the dice on White around the late 3rd-5th.
And thankfully our FO isn't stupid enough to draft a QB and then try and convert him... Way too many talented WR's in the draft to get Pat White and try to convert him. I've said it before. I like Pat White, but he has no place on this team unless he's a UDFA or 7th rounder. We have way too many holes to draft luxuries like Pat White.

Edit- I do agree, somebody will roll the dice. A great team with less holes, can roll the dice on him. But I hope a team with many holes like us, do not. All I'm saying.

First off, I'm no Florida fan so I have no bias for or against them. I used to feel like you about Tebow but I think he might turn out to be a solid NFL QB with another year at college to help him improve. He's just a winner and he can throw the ball.
Throw the ball? He's never been known as a great passer. Which leads me to believe I doubt he will succeed at the NFL level, at least, not as a QB.

Going by that logic, Pat White > Tim Tebow. Unless White is around in the 7th or is available as a UDFA, no thanks. And I say no thanks to Tebow no matter if he's drafted or not.

Again, Pat White > Tim Tebow. Anybody who would want to draft Tebow in the 3rd or 4th with all the holes on our team, just to be used in a Wildcat formation, should honestly not be allowed to state their opinion

How about we draft some Oline and LB's and just line up and kick butt and shelf the WildCat.
I agree with the 1st part. I don't want to scrap the Wildcat though, it's entertaining, has worked several times, and keeps defenses on their heels. I just think the idea of drafting Tebow or White any less than the 7th round is pure comedy.

no, we ran the wildcat to help out our poor o-line play running the ball in the base offense. When we get Thomas and Smiley back and perhaps a few more good lineman the wild cat won't be needed.

Right now we got Ronnie playn QB in the Wildcat, now granted i love Ronnie but he never played QB.
Just imagine for a minute if we had Tim Tebow as our Wilcat QB, the boy can run and throw.
our backfield would be

QB- Tebow
RB- Brown
RB2- Williams
RB3/TE/WR Cobbs
and Line up Pennington as WR about 50% of the time

There would be 2 guys capable of throwing the ball anytime Penny and tebow
and 3 with brown.

that would be fun to watch and hard to defend against, just wanted to throw this topic out for fun :woot:
no thanks

This kinda stuff is just not going to happen. Yes, with any running QB you could have some fun trick plays, but we aren't blowing a high pick for any kind of Slash player. I mean, you don't even need to be running the Wildcat to work these sorts of plays in, really.

Also, Tebow is a hell of an athlete, but he stares down his receivers pretty badly. Those picks he had vs Oklahoma were just inexplicably terrible throws. He's not going to be a good passer in the NFL.

If we had an offensive line that could effectively run block, that wildcat formation would only get used once every 3-4 games.

Running the ball effectively > wildcat
