I continue to believe Daniel Thomas is held in considerably higher regard by the coaching staff than the fans. It looked like we were getting the rust out of Thomas more than deciding whether to keep him.

The other two backs are nothing special. The forum loves them only because of hatred of Daniel Thomas. If they were on a rival team, nobody would care about them. And next year we would be looking to upgrade.

We will find out soon but Thomas doesn't have Ireland to hold his hand anymore during roster cuts.

Yes, those other backs might be nothing special but they have clearly shown they want to be a Miami Dolphin more than Thomas.

Williams could be special. Fights for every yard is elusive and breaks tackles
Somebody said it best.. Williams plays like the draft position of Thomas.
Thomas plays like an undrafted FA.. Had touchdown last night though more of the same 2.9 per carry..

Williams is definitely not special. Runs hard, keeps his feet going, but he's too slow to be starter imo.

Thomas' 2.9 YPC had a lot to do with being tackled in the backfield 3 times at no fault of his own. One play he was tackled immediately after the handoff exchange for a 7 yard loss because nobody blocked the DL. I think the OL was counting to 3 Mississippi's. He also had another decent run that was called back because of a penalty. I am actually amazed he had 2.9 YPC. I thought he ran well.

He might not be fast, but he seems quick, or shifty if you will. I also believe he has great hands for a RB. Something we could use if anything were to happen to Moreno.

I watched every preseason run of his and didn't notice that he was quick and shifty. He definitely runs hard though, and could be a decent receiver and blocker, but I just didn't see anything that would make me believe he can be successful running the ball against starters in the regular season. I think RBs like him are a dime a dozen.

Nah,

I clearly see D2 is hard to bring down and already knows what a spin move is.

Hah wow.

Williams is not special. He isn't better than Thomas in this system/offense.

I've seen him juke and spin for extra yardage.

And you gathered this information from a few weeks of training camp? Because Thomas is so special a 4th year player is being pushed by an undrafted rookie. In this case the rookie is the keeper.

Really? Rookie a keeper because he's had a nice run near the goal line?

Thats it? Have you watched him play? The only time he gets yards is when he bounces it outside. He isn't patient with his blockers, can't pass block, messes up routes, and doesn't seem like the greatest fit for our scheme.

He's alright, but he isn't anything special like everyone on here and Omar Kelly is claiming he is. Thomas is not that good of a running back, but his skillset and ability FITS out blocking scheme very well.

Damien Williams looks like a better football player to me than Daniel Thomas. But the flip side is, we haven't seen much of Daniel Thomas in this rushing scheme, and he did OK when he wasn't hit in the backfield last night.

I think it comes down to which guy they think is a better fit, not which guy they think has more raw ability.
