I think this is something we can think about. Patterson is getting paid too much with his injury history. He's a good player when healthy but who wants to take that chance again this year.

I know Tillman is old. I get it.

But at the same, or even lesser rate, I think a duo of Tillman and Grimes would be beast. I think Tillman would compliment Grimes pretty well and let the young guys develop under him.

Would be a solid vet who knows the game and can create turnovers easily.

Thoughts?

So...

You want to replace one old, over paid, injury prone CB for another old, over paid, injury prone CB?

At this point in his career do you guys see him demanding that much money???

If we could get him cheaper than Patterson ona 1-2yr deal you guys wouldn't be down for that?

He's like 33, I dont see him getting more than 4-5mil/yr

You may be right.

But players that old usually

A) Rely on desperate teams to over pay top dollar that they may have something left in the tank.

B) Wait until camp injuries open up roster spots allowing them to demand more money.

C) Would rather take vet minimum contracts for contending teams (Seahawks,49ers, Saints, Patriots, Broncos, etc...)

D) Retire as the small amount of money does not make it worth their time to go to training camps, OTA's, etc....

Tillman will want money, maybe not HUGE money, but substancial.

Like I said, given his age and injury history, I don't see him commanding more than a 4-5/yr. I'd rather Tillman over Patterson for the same money.
Miami could be a good fit for him. I definitely don't see him hanging it up as he's still a solid player and can contribute on any team he goes on.

He won't be signing no vet minimum to play in Miami, that's for sure. But a team friendly, little guaranteed, reggie bush type of 1-2yr deal could work

If Tillman has any brains, why would he come to this mess unless we massively overpay for his services? At this point in his career, I'm sure he wants to be playing for Superbowls not helping to rebuild a third rate franchise.

Before I give Tillman a shot, I would gamble with Patterson. If the amount is equal or close to the same to have either ( Patterson or Tillman), Patterson when on the field could actually be considered even better then Grimes....at least more dangerous and opportunistic.

That's a stretch right here.

Patterson isn't on the same scale as Grimes, not even close. He made some plays, has good instincts but Grimes is lock down. Very few CBs in this league are considered lock down, and Grimes is one of them

Right now, we need to lock down Grimes. Why hasn't anything been said about him? What is Hickey doing? They should have been in talks since the day he was hired!! As far as whi plays opposite him (if he is resigned), I would rather go with Taylor and spend the money on the oline. I think Taylor is going to be a really good corner. Keep Patterson through camp. If Taylor is as good as many think he can be, cut Patterson.

byrd is not a cb
