Tim Bowens Gone/waived!!!!!!! (merged)

This is a man who would get my vote for best Dolphin NT ever vote. Its difficult to compare different NT from different eras .Manny Fernandez and Baumhower were certainly forces at the NT position but if I had my druthers I would druther choose Timbo over those two.

Teams would make game plans avoid him and he was a wall for many years in that Dolphin defense.Due to the chop and cut blocks NTs have a relatively short career in the NFL and Timbo eventually succumbed to this danger.

Its very difficult to get into the Dolphin Ring of Honor. Its more difficult to have your number retired.I think there has only been three.Griese,Marino and Csonka.

I dont think Timbo will make it there but he will make it in the ring of honor of our collective memory.

The best to him. Hopefully he will be OK physically to live a normal life.

A big thanks to Tim for all that he has done for the organization. May he have success, happiness, and health after football! He will be missed!:beerbang:

The only Dolphins jersey I've ever had, Aqua #95 Bowens from 1996. To think he played that well all those years with half the toes missing on one foot. The BEST DT we've ever had and definitely deserving of the Ring of Honor, along with Richmond Webb.

Sorry to see him go but it was fully expected. Many people posted about when he was coming back. DTs don't come back from that injury. They can't.

He was as solid of a player as we've had. Unspectacular in his performance, but his efforts continually allowed others to shine. He was a true team player.

Unspectacular? Maybe non-flashy. He was very spectacular if you are interested in good line play.

Thanks for the great career Timbo. You were the last of the Shula boys, played at a high level, always took paycuts, and was a Dolphin your entire career.

You were always one of my favs.

So long Timbo. Thanks for all of the great years and your commitment to the Dolphins. Best of luck in life after football.

I second that! A great competitor. :)

No more clogging the middle

We'll miss big Timbo, he clogged that middle and often took up two linemen. Great run stopper throughout the years! Hopefully Traylor can step in and contribute immediately.

This is one of those threads that you wish the players read.

And so the last link to the Shula era is gone.....gonna miss the guy, he was a great DT and had the kind of attitude you want in an NFL player. I'd love to see him come back in some coaching capacity (assistant DL coach maybe? he'd be great to groom any young NTs we bring aboard in the future), and I'd be all for having #95 retired..he wasnt the biggest name guy, but IMO no one player was more pivotal to our defense than Tim-bo was when he was healthy (look at how terrible our run D was without him, and the extra wear ZT took from not havin the big man in front of him)

The end of many memories and the end of an era in Dolphins History. The last link to Coach Shula and all the greatness of the dolphins in his career. I say again Tim, thank you, you were a class act and one hell of a football player. Thank you for your professionalism and great football and good luck with all that you go on to do.
