Time For A Soft Rebuild

Chop. Sieler. Waddle. Washington. Achane. Wright. Tua. Maybe Phillips. Other than that we have no young guys that we should keep. The cub board is bare. This is a full reset not a soft one.

Just on O, keepers are TT, Brewer, AJx, Paul, Achane, Wright, Waddle, Washington, Smith. Lamm and wynn as backups.
Before responding, here's my logic. Miami WILL NOT draft a QB who will start over TT. They can't trade TT for anything close to reasonable. Doesn't means fans should like it, but he stays. OL listed will likely stay. Not because they're All-Pro or 'proven,' but because they've shown enough, replacing them won't be easy and 'average' is hard to find. I'd put them in 'look for upgrades,' but not cuts. WRs/RBs, again, aren't All-Pro, but would be much better with a 'real' NFL OL.
I'm not against a 'soft' rebuild, but, realistically, that's where a rebuild would start. As a matter of fact, upgrading only 4 positions on O and D, getting rid of Crossman, and getting a 'real' OC, would result in amazing improvement.

Really good post

We currently draft 11th. Even if we lose the next 3 I don’t see our draft positioning improving more than 2 spots at the most. A single win for us could plummet our draft positioning down near 15-17.

I have to disagree on Grier. He is a bad GM. He has compounded bad draft picks and trades with crazy extensions that meant he had to let good players walk. he hired mcDaniel and for every Jonnu Smith there are five Jordan Poyers.

You are dead on with the results comment, no playoff wins in nine years is the biggest indictment of this man's work.
Maybe not good enough, but I really don't think you can classify Grier as bad. Miami is easily top half of the league talent wise and have been for several years.

However, I do think the current rebuild has to be classified as a failure simply because Miami hasn't gained ground on Buffalo, or any of the AFC top contenders.

what would the point be? Another year of this? Ross hasn't been patient in the past and yesterday was a complete embarrassment.

I felt like Dante in Clerks "I'm not supposed to be here today" because I had plans that fell through which left me free to watch the most depressing, disappointing game I've seen in 50 years as a fan. this game was the culmination of TONS of bad draft choices and coaching mistakes as well. Danny Crossman shouldn't be here, Mc D shouldn't be here and good Lord, where did you find Jackson Carman? Is he a RT or a turnstile at a department store?

Grier isn't a GM, he's an arsonist who's been given tons of money, freedom and opportunities and has just lit the place on fire and then sprayed it with napalm for good measure.

Grier has been irresponsible with the owner's money and the team will get called out nationally and locally today for being soft. It does matter that guys like Hyde are calling for the GM to go.

Ross, a NY guy, has to care about what the Jets did in the past weeks and months. He has to care that the Bills are thriving because they are built better and tougher. Ross has fired other GMs and coaches for far less, imo.
Maybe Ross will surprise us and blow this up. I just don't think he will.

Unfortunately, I do think it will take another bad year. But what if Miami rebounds a bit. Then what?

That's really the fear. That Grier and McDaniel are good enough to continue to hang around.

I've joined the dark side on FH. I would definitely fire Grier and Crossman. Then I would let the new GM and powers to be do whatever they need to do to make this a winning team. If that means getting rid of everyone so be it. Might not be ideal for me because I like a lot of players and some coaches. But I'm sick of the outcome year after year.

Let me tell you why he can be classified as bad.

He has no conviction of philosophy in terms of how to build a successful team. A GM should have a vision he believes in. He should hire a HC, and draft players that align with that philosophy irrespective of what philosophy that may be.

Let me ask you this. What is Grier's core philosophy about team building? Shouldn't we have at least some basic ideas after this amount of time? What are Grier's core beliefs and vision, and what has he done to realize that vision?

The fact that literally no one can answer that, including Grier, is a problem in itself.

A real GM would have insisted on a competent backup QB. A real GM would have insisted on a better Oline. A real GM would have insisted on Crossman's removal at some point.

Has he done some things relatively well? Yes, I guess, but the bottom line has not been acceptable.

I'm not as upset as most about this. I've been through this before and will be going through it again.

I'm more upset for my little guy who's only 7 years old and I've indoctrinated him into being a Fins fan and he will have to suffer his entire life like his dad. Brutal.

Son.... You will be a Dolphins fan for life.

Turning your kid into a Fins fan? You should be charged with child cruelty. All of us that are already in it can't leave, but to introduce it to your kid? Wow! That's just criminal. If your child ever starts singing "Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins number one...", the punishments should begin :)

Good points. I do question what Miami's blueprint is. I've mentioned that in another post. We knew what Dolphins football was in the 1970's. Tough, disciplined, smart. The team didn't beat itself.

Now, the team goes back and forth between coaches with a defensive philosophy or an offensive philosophy. I do think that has hurt Grier.
