I want DJax bad. I say trade hartline and his 5 million cap hit to someone for a conditional 7th rounder and pay DJax! An extra 3-4 million a year for a pro bowler compared to a Hartline. Ummm no brainer
people are actually linking him to us?
Yes - Its not my money. To me its a joke! Ross is stupid rich and the Dolphins have 16 million in cap space. Go pay DJAX 10 million for a one year deal and call it a day. Would you rather be 9-7 and cap sound - or 11-5 or better and go get a kid that can take our offense to an elite level?
Even if we got DJax and it ALL failed I would rather go for bust and know our coaches and owner got over themselves to put out a REAL product for ME and the rest of our die hard fans - instead of these pathetic 1/2 measures which keep us 8 and 8 and picking 19th in the draft.
We all know that 4 year 36 million dollar deals are about $20 million guaranteed. So you are dead wrong. A one year 20 million dollar deal is way overpaying him. He is looking at 8 million a year. Give him an 11 million dollar deal that with incentives up to 13.5 and you will turn his head. In Florida that is equivalent to roughly 12 million with 14.5 when you factor in no state tax. Anything can be done. DJax would be smart to take a deal like that. Remember that's roughly 7 to 9 million take home after tax for one years work and liberty to go out and sign an even fatter deal next year.
Go do it Miami and get over our STUPID self-imposed confinements over character -
Ever heard of the salary cap? It doesn't matter how much money Ross has
Philbin needs to get the H over his little character mantra - I don't CARE
for GODS SAKE PEOPLE!! HICKEY BRINGS IN THE PLAYERS, NOT PHILBIN!!!!
if hickey thinks a player will get them over the hump, he will sign him UNLESS HE FEELS the character of the player is a detriment. which brings us to this......, CHARACTER IS IMPORTANT!! you put all this money in a player and then he goes to jail, or dies in a wreck, drive by, etc..... . then what?
and how about the rest of the team? the thing i have always heard the most about him is being almost un coachable and a pain in the arse, on the field and in the locker room. he has ZERO respect for authority [to much hip hop] and even has taunted coaches in games and in meetings [to much hip hop].
chip kelley sees a talented team with good young players and isnt going to let desean spoil it all pretending he is the resurrection of tupac. kudos for coach kelley for being a man of principle and not caving in and keeping desean around just to hopefully win another game or two!! its not going to be popular, but its a GREAT message to the team.
desean is an awsome talent, but a guy like that can be a team killer. i dont like seeing gangstas, the real ones or the wanna bees. i dont like seeing them get free college rides and skate through and i dont like them getting mega bux from sports. and i dont want that kind of player on my team. i'm sorry but the old saying about birds of a feather flock together is true. and folks are not nailing him because some gangsta jumps in a photo op at the local rap club, he is being nailed because of the ones he is CLOSE TO AND RUNS AROUND WITH!!!
if he was anti gang and a good character guy, he wouldnt be around them. he wouldnt want to be. and with the money he has, he can keep the hood out of his life [if he wants to].
the un coachable thing, the taunting of coaches is almost as bad, football wise anyways. you have young guys coming in from college, out of the hood and a constant stream of hip hop in their headphones. like all young people, their impressionable. you get them in a locker room with a desean jackson type and things go bad, real quick!!! and it gets passed on over and over until the inmates are running the asylum. its happened many, many times in sports.
so RAVING, make fun of philbin and morals and decency and high character all you want, but that HURTS a team, not builds one. AND FRANKLY, the "i dont care as long as i am entertained, paid, hired is awful!! the "i dont care about anyones conduct or morals" is the main reason the world is what it is right now. decency, morals, truth, character, law...... ALL used to mean something and most people believed and lived their lives that way. its NO COINCIDENCE that society has gone down the crapper, crime and violence are the highest EVER and the country has been almost destroyed with this popular "do what you want as long as i get mine" code of conduct.
gangstas [weather desean is one or not] should NEVER be rewarded with millions for playing a game. should NEVER be given a scholarship to a university. hard labor camps, not nfl, nba, mlb training camps. and people should should be sending strong messages to these schools and sports teams when they do close their eyes and bring in dirt bags and gangstas, no more buying season tickets, or any ticket, tell them your pulling your kids from the college/university if these types are allowed in. THE TEACHERS/PROFESSORS should be a committee to check the grades and test players to see if they are really studying and earning their scholarship or are they are skating by and someone else is taking their tests or planting passing grades.
you dont reward filth with millions of dollars.

For my detractors that say salary cap - I say we have $16million right now - I say go for bust - its not about DJax specifically - although he's as good a battle ground as any on the subject - but its about an attitude to go out their and get messy on purpose - and stop getting in trouble by accident!!!
trade the player with the best chemistry with our QB? No thanks on that one
I don't care how much chemistry hartline has with ryan, you can not tell me he is anywhere close to as good as jackson. Dont be dumb.
