To the Saints fans

Honestly how long have you been a football fan? Last year the Chargers starters kicked our butts as well. Then we went 11-5 in the reg season and they went 5-11. No matter the score I would say nothing about the Saints because I realize preseason is not an accurate gauge to your season hopes. In preseason you are playing against your self, and trying not to make the mistakes. You don't game plan for the other team, and you don't use your whole play book on either side of the ball. I think Theisman said it on Monday night, that preseason is more of a personal battle. You keep it simple and see who can blow someone off the line, who can flat out burn a CB, and so on and so on. We obviously lost the battle in mistakes, but I doubt it would have been different if we were playing the Panthers.

I would love to answer that question for you.....Ricky was injured a good part of his 1st two seasons. If we sat him on the bench last year....what would his trade value be? It wouldn't be what it is now, would it? We had to prove he could make it through an entire season to get any value for him. That is the main reason IMO. Another contributing factor is the fact that Deuce held out last season and missed the majority of training camp.

I was referring to him tradeing RW; thus, picking Deuce to be the guy.

either way it's not haslett. Haslett didn't draft Deuce or trade Ricky, it was all done by the GM, Randy Mueller.

That is pretty lame! Find me a coach that is concerned about a players trade value in the offseason while in the midst of a playoff run, and i will show you a coach that doesn't have a job. It is really an rhetorical question. If they thought he was better than he would hvae played more so do to the fact that RW was in teh dog house.

That is just wrong! Randu made the trade possible, but it was obviously Haslett's descion. He has pretty much said this on more than 1 occasion.

I don't think we've got any room to talk smack today. Not after last night's performance.

muck....you're the last person i would expect that crap from......we played awful against Tampa....with no time to heal, correct, or practice(especially Fiedler)...did you actually expect any better?

OR,

We have plenty of excuses for how we played last night....we can still talk smack off of reputation.

pick one please.;)

No, I didn't expect a good performance. Plenty of (obvious) reasons why. But good lord, we still played like crap. All those procedure penalties were just inexcusable. We can still smack it up and stuff, sure. I just don't think we can go calling out Saints fans after such a dismal performance, no matter what we believe.

We'll see who is STILL talking smack in January.......

OMT to consider.....we have a big target on our head right now.....all this Super Bowl talk has givin extra motivation to anyone playing us and the Saints and Bucs had even more motivation than that(Gruden's first game, and the Saints obsession with beating RW).....now I wouldn't play this card in a regular season game but for the first preseason game? Sure. The first preseason game B?Yes, also. Both teams wanted to win more than we did and we were woefully unprepared for either game, a combination for disaster, obviously. Things will get better.....believe me.

To all Dolphin fans....
Ask yourself if you would prefer to be a fan of the victorious Saints this morning rather than the humiliated Dolphins.

preseason games are not about winning or losing. as a fan, i would always love to see the dolphins win, but the reason for the games is to try new people and zack has been quoted as saying, "its hard to get up for preseason games." i think if a team played someone in their own division it might be quite different!

It's only preseason. Last night was fun, but I dont think many saints fans are printing playoff tickets. hell, your average saints fans will be happy to tell you how much Brooks sucks, Deuce wont't get it done, etc. It can be a very negative bunch. I hate preseason. It is meaningless, and the best you can hope for is that you dont lose any starters to injury. Still, if they're going to play, its nice to play well in preaseason, regardless of score.

Anyway, from our side I liked what I saw from Deuce and our starting lines. Brooks looked OK, still needs work on tempo and decisionmaking. Nice to see Charles Grant (the Ricky Pick) getting in the backfield a lot.

The Dolphins, well, they looked like they were playing their 2nd game in 4 days. Fiedler looked awful, but I wasnt sold on him to begin with, so it didnt exactly shock me.

Ricky looked like Ricky. Eventually he would've ripped off a few 8, 10 yarders, though your line didnt do him any favors.

That McMichael kid looks pretty impressive.

Anyway, good luck - especially with that running game!
