Todd McShay has us taking Marqise Lee @ 19

A receiver projected to go late first-early second. Great return man. Drops a lot of passes. Taken at 19, much higher than he should be.... Are we drafting just him, or is his family coming too?

I do believe we are drafting a WR in round one....But I believe it will be Cooks or Beckham....not Lee.

I think they realize we lack playmaking ability in our WR Corp, Hartline, Matthews, Gibson are all possession types IMO.......I also believe they think they can fill out their O-line needs in rounds 2 & 3.

I'm not buying a LB in round one. I could see a Corner if a top corner falls to us as it is an impact position.

But...I do see a WR in our future and I want Cooks first then Beckham.....that is of the players that could possibly be there of course.

I think this would be a great pick. I think all the doubters by week 10 would all be happy with this kid on our team. He had very average QB play from Kessler. Look when he had time to get healthy, the game against Fresno State in the Bowl game, he had 7 for 118 and 2 tds. This kid can straight up play. Has produced every year in college. Seriously would improve our playmakers and give us another really good weapon.

Honestly, Cooks is nice and had a great year last year and a good one the year before. Lee is one of those forgotten guys. I like both and wouldn't be upset with either. I just think Lee is going to be a stud.

I do not put Beckham in he same category as the other two. His production for being at a big school is very average.

Hard to objectively prioritize between the 3. They all look terrific. Robinson could easily be there when we pick in the 2nd round. Marqise Lee looks pretty special. He seems to do it all with a minimum of fuss. He could be a major asset to enhance Tannehill.
USC has a bad track record of producing Offensive pretty boys who looked great at college and then fail in the NFL. (Eg Matt Leinert, Mark buttfumble, Matt Barkley (shown zilch to date), Dwayne Jarrett, Patrick Turner, Robert Woods, Steve Smith (ex Giant not the ex Panther) etc). Even Reggie Bush has been a relative disappointment compared to what was expected. However, one of these days a USC guy is going to smash this, and Marqise Lee could be the man to do it.
Cooks looks a bit like Tavon Austin from last year. Clearly has blazing speed. I have been thinking O-lineman for months because we just have to get at least 2 good ones. However, I maybe wrong in assuming O-line for the top pick. Maybe if an elite WR prospect like Lee or Cooks is there and we take him. I think that Wallace, Hartline, Gibson and Matthews are a pretty good WR group. However, the possible addition of one of these guys makes us a pretty scary. Add Lazor's improved game calling and creativity, improved RB with the addition of Knowshon Moreno and better O-line protection for Tannehill and who knows?
Well said!

I still feel we need another weapon for our offense to be as good as we want it to be. I'd be ok with a top Wr or a top TE

If this is the case...Philbin and company learned nothing last year. And neither did the chattering class.

There was a mock in a local paper which had Miami taking Lee which I'm not too crazy but could deal with.

It also had Z Martin being taken by Seattle at 32... I wonder if they are the same?

p.s. If the phins do go WR at 19; I'd prefer Brandin Cooks.

Cooks> Beckham > Lee

Robinson is worth a look at 50, but 19 is too rich for my blood.

The thing about the corners is neither Dennard or Gilbert fit Coyle's D. Fuller and Roby are better scheme fits as they are better fits in off-coverage than press corners like Dennard and Gilbert

Lee would be a stud but we have so many glaring weaknesses that I can see no way to justify overlooking them to take a wr in round 1

Love Lee though

My thoughts exactly. I feel like the pick needs to be OL or maybe LB

I think Lee is the WR we take at 19 (if we do take a WR there). He's the most natural WR in the draft, and he's a perfect fit for our offense. I'd prefer to go a different direction, but he's a really nice player.
