Top 3 wideouts?

Everyone likes a shiny new toy. I mean I like Landry…I think he will be a good player. I think Matthews is just as physical though…maybe not a shifty but has better long speed and plays big. Whats in Landry's favor is that Matthews has been here for what 3 years now…he should outperform the rookie. That Landry has closed the gap that quick is a good sign for him.

Gibson is better than both as of right now…he is straight up money on 3rd down. Chain mover

The problem w Matthews isn't his ability, it's his brains.

Last year when injuries hit the WR core, I noticed Matthews after almost every play was pulled off the field for the next play, and and to be talked to by the coaches. It was pretty obvious the coaches had to coach him up as the game was going on.

But yeah, Matthews is def very talented, just needs to gain the coaches trust that he knows what's going on.

Question. Who would you rather see as the top three wideouts on gameday? Wallace, Gibson, Hartline? Or Wallace, Gibson, Landry. I think Wallace needs to be on the field due to his speed. Defenses have to account for him. Same is true for Clay with mismatches. But I think in this WC style offense if Hartline can't catch the ball more consistently it may be better to have Landry on the field. This offense has a lot of quick passes and shorter routes, a drop on second and 7 or 8 may lead to punts. Look at NE's wideouts, predicated on making shorts catches and getting yac. Welker, Amendola, Edelman, Gronk. All are hands guys. Part of the reason Brady's completion percentage is so high, and they have so many 12 and 14 play drives.

In Landry's offense Hartline's bread and butter routes are way devalued (using the sideline to protect him from the DB -- catching balls running back to LOS or extended across the boundary line). Good hands? Meh. The offense needs skilled WRs who can create on their own, get open quickly, play through contact, and pressure Ds by not running back to LOS or out of bounds. Hartline's weaknesses, pretty much. Hartline is getting exposed in this offense, imo. Which means he can easily be replaced -- much more easily than last year or year before.

I get that Tannehill has a level of trust w. Hartline, but others can play the position better in this offense.

We have a very good and deep WR corps (along with Clay) so it's a very good problem to have. If the staff with Tannehill can find a way to utilize these guys to the best of their individual abilities, and the o line can finally give the damn QB some time to throw, then there's no reason why this can't be a very potent passing game.
Last season, Knowshon played in a system where he took advantage of 6-7 man fronts in a prolific passing game to have a very nice season. I'm hoping that Tannehill can take the next step forward and we can have a working class version of what the Broncos did last season.
If the D continues to progress the way that it did last night, and offensively they can do what I've laid out then we should be able to compete for a wild card spot. If Tannehill and the o line don't improve then we're up for yet another season of mediocrity. Here's to hoping for the former.

People just stop the nonsense of Landry over Hartline. You can't teach rapport, and during the season, Tannehill and Hartline have that. I have no doubt that Landry will ultimately be a better WR than Brian Hartline, certainly more talented, however to start the season, it needs to be Wallace/Hartline/Gibson with Matthews and Landry sprinkled in on 4 and 5 WR sets.

Brian Hartline was a good fit for Mike Sherman's offense. I'm not convinced he's a good fit for this offense. The only thing that's really drawn your attention to Hartline in the preseason was Tannehill looking to force him a ball in triple coverage and a couple of ugly drops.

I think this offense definitely is going to click for guys like Gibson and Landry, who can thrive in the middle of the field and pluck the ball out of the air with those big mitts.

i think hartline is the wr with the least upside, a possession receiver with limited yac ability. for us to be elite we need a more explosive guy, i think landry will eventually take his job in this offense

I'd expect to see a lot of package groupings this year based on what they want to do in the situation. Landry will be solid but I'm thinking he is still #5 behind Matthews.

So to answer: Wallace, Hartline, Gibson

Really? Yeah let's replace our most productive receiver from the last two years with a rookie. I say our two best receivers right now are hartline and Gibson. The third I'd throw in would be Wallace, because he's the only receiver we have that scares anyone. Please people enough with trying to replace a back to back 1000 yard receiver in his prime with anyone. Hartline will be the #2 receiver as long as he is a dolphin.

Hartline seems most effective along the sideline. I am not sure where that fits into this offense. He will make some plays, but no way he gets 1000 yards this year.
Wallace also seems like a bad fit now with all the constant miscommunication with RT and his exorbitant and unwarranted salary. Landry, Gibson, and Matthews are the future.
Williams and hazel are possibilities as well.

Landry is still at #5 behind Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, and Mathews. He has potential but at this point just needs experience and then maybe he is the #3 next year.

From what I've seen Williams could handle the right side...maybe needs to progress a little, I don't know, but he shows well.

The encouraging thing is that Miami looks to have five receivers who are starter quality. I don't think there's necessarily a star in the bunch, but I like the group as a whole. Wallace, Gibson and Hartline are the top three, but Landry and Matthews can play.

We have the best WRs we ve had in a long time, it seems everyone has their guy but it doesn't make any sense to bash one to prop another one.... They all fit into what I think is a top 10 unit overall
