Top 6 defensive Play Callers according to PFF

Come on PFF:

"Miami's defense helped the team overcome a 1-7 record to finish 9-8"

But no mention of them helping the team get to 1-7 in the first place.

That said, I really hope Boyer's the real deal and has his boys swarming. Can't really complain too much about the defensive side of the roster...there's a couple spots that could be upgraded, but overall, that unit's personnel are outstanding IMO. If we have some development and nice surprises from the LBs, defense could be disgusting!

Supposedly the 1-7 had Flores' fingerprints and then Boyer took back command. Unknown if that's the case or not. Gues we'll see this year with an even more talented D and the young guns holland and Phillips going into year two.

Agreed. Have read Flores wanted to change up the defense from the year before and it backfired on him.

We will see this year but hoping they can continue to improve on the latter part of the last season.

There are those who argue the opposite, but given the circumstances, I think JB was the one calling the shots the second half of the season. Game planning? That might be a different animal.

I have confidence in Boyer.....

I'm fairly certain between talking to players and coaches McDaniel knows who did what when which is why he kept Boyer.

I think both sides are wrong and people just love to blame someone 100% for something. I think JB was the playcaller all year. But Flo has an ego and a control freak. So no doubt Flo was the one making all the overall scheme decisions for the team especially on D.

So for me the I think no doubt JB can playcall in game and is very good at it. But how will he do being the man in charge of designing the overall scheme week to week. Because it seems McDaniel is going to let JB run the whole D for the most part.

If the defense comes out flat and not nearly effective as they were last year we will have our answer. If our defense takes over games like they did last year, at any point, then we will have our answer as well.

This defensive roster isn't as good as ppl are giving it credit. We don't have a great linebacking core. Or an elite pass rusher. It will be up to the defensive playcaller to make up for those deficiencies like they have the last few years.

Hopefully with this year's improved offense, we won't need to be so great on defense just to win.

Well in Boyers defense the offense was terrible to start the season and Briskett showed he was a journeyman backup playing behind a terrible Oline
Add in an unusual passive pass rush as well, it was a terrible start to the season.

Boyer does need to figure out how to stop the Bills though.

I haven't seen dolphins defense play top team yet but I think they should be good unit this year...the better qb will give dolphins defense problem.....the last 8 games..I am pretty sure flores took over def because his job was online.. that no brainers there.. it all be on JB this year.. plus we playing better qb this year...I think we should be top 15 defense this yr.. must stop run..pass defense is good...

Also need to factor in that us having a improved QB and better offense should be added benefit to our Defense.
