Top 9 OT they say they all can start this year

Put down the pipe and take 2 steps back. J Long Better then Joe Thomas ??? Some even say Long might be better at RT then LT in the leauge.

If we draft either of the longs it will be all good. But Joe Thomas is a beast and is a pure Left Tackle.

Do some home work and look'em up. lol

I have, that's why I asked the question, I knew you couldn't answer it. I'm calling BS on this thread. You keep saying "some" say this and "some" say that but offer up no evidence. Well some people say there is a bigfoot, some say scientology is the way to go. Some say Chris Long is going to be a complete bust. Some say he's not even Howie's son!

Noone said that J Long was better than Joe Thomas.. but you're acting as if it was common knowledge that J Thomas would be the nastiest rookie LT to come along in a long time.. the truth is, they didnt.

By the way, could you please post the sources where you got this list from? I've searched every major site and there's nothing of the sort.

Some scouting reports had concerns about Joe Thomas' injury in 2006 ( tore his ACL ) and they were scared his arms were too short.. not to mention he wasn't quick enough to handle the elite pass rushers on the NFL.

All I'm saying is, hindsight is 20/20. We can't say this or that with confidence concerning this year vs last year. If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle but that isn't the real world.

jesus, reminds me of middle school all over again....

Jake Long would make a great RT, VERY great RT. As of now our starting RT is Julius Wilson, and I see us making no pushes to sign an OT in free agency.

Carl Nicks has too many off the field issues, i believe recently he was arrested.

Jeff Otah wont go to #32, nor will Clady.....Cherilus is said to be a nasty guy (in a good way). Chris Williams wont make it to #32, and Anthony Collins, i dont see him as a premier RT in this league.

Sam Baker....will NOT play OT in the NFL, lots of GM's are saying they like him as a Guard. and Brendan Albert, wont make it past the 1st either.

Now its obvious we need an RT and OG, unless Parcells thinks that Drew Mormino can start.....it was said last year, that he WAS gonna start, but got hurt. He was said to be doing real well in camps and whatnot, so add a little bulk to him, and he should do well. Also, Joe Staley (his ex teammate, now OL for the 49ers) said he was the best lineman at Central Michigan...

We could take Chris Long at #1, but if we do...i would like to see us draft Gosder Cherilus at #32....if we DONT draft Jake #1 overall, that means we are content with Drew Mormino. Why? You can draft Jake #1, and then Sam Baker #32 and plug him in at the other OG spot....and boom, ur OL is fixed. This draft is not full of OGs, so if we dont pick an OG in the first 2 rounds, that means we like Mormino a lot.

Thou shall not forget, Parcells has been doing a lot of work on the defense already....signing Starks and Ferguson for inside duties, so u can forget Dorsey at #1...then Torbor, Anderson...along with Moses/Roth/Wright/Holliday/Taylor who can all play DE......so why on earth would he pick a DE at #1??

and Matt Ryan....not a soul alive thinks a QB with 19 INTs is gonna go #1 overall.

Chris Long....great player, but name me ONE OT he played who is reallllly good. all the 9 OTs u just listed, not ONE played Chris Long this past year, so u cant exactly tell how he plays against a Premier OT...plus, UVA didnt get much of a chance to play many top teams besides Va Tech.

Vernon Gholston.....nasty, powerful great player. But some question his ethic, says he takes too many plays off. plus, Vernon going at #1 overall??? doubt it anyway..

Jake Long.....lets look at who HE had to go up against.

-Vernon Gholston, YES Gholston pushed him back real well on ONE play, but unless u didnt notice....thats pretty much the only play that Long was beat on, lol.

he also had to go up against Jason Jones of Eastern Michigan, Cliff Avril of Purdue, Derrick Harvey of Florida, along with playing some TOP teams.

Jake also put up a tremendous combine.

Now question is, is he worth paying #1 overall money to? Idk...but then again, nobody is in this draft.

This is the top voted mock draft site by thier fellow peers on the net.

Then like I said before, you're just making this up. Because that link you provided didn't say anything about 9 OT's starting this year. The list you provided isn't even the same list they have under the OT draft prospects section.

Now if you can find a pinpoint citation then please provide it. Otherwise don't make an outlandish claim and tag a generic "they say" behind it. Also, don't get mad when somebody calls you on it.

Listen child don't be lazy and look it up are you too dumb to figue it out ?

Not to beat a dead horse but I just want to point out your above statement made no sense. You called me a child, even though we're peers. You're telling me to not be lazy and not look it up, that's a contradiction. Then without any punctuation you question my intelligence with a misspelled word to boot. That's a bit ironic considering how horrible you're syntax is.

Calm down, nobody is attacking you're precious C. Long. Some of us just want J. Long instead.

Dude look up the sites i posted 1 for ya do i have to turn the pages also.
http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2008.php that will take you to 1 of the more respected mock draft sites. Footballfutures.com is another 1. There more dude just go read alittle.

Dude, I read the entire thing. It doesn't say anywhere that 9 OT's will be starting this coming season. Dude, you can point out all of the mock drafts you want but none of them talk about 9 OT's starting like you stated in your title.

I agree to an extent the criticism on Long that he may not be a pro-bowl LT. He does seem to have a little trouble with speed rushers, and at LT that's what he'll usually face.

With that said, I don't think that is reason enough not to draft him. While I am personally in favor of Chris Long, I don't see taking Jake Long as a bad decision. We are in desperate need of more o-linemen, not just to start but we also need some depth.

Personally I hope we draft two maybe three o-linemen in this draft.

Yes the tackle position is deep, but Jake is the best. If he struggles at LT, why not just put him on the right side and leave Carey at LT or even move Carey to guard and draft a LT prospect as well. Yes I know nobody wants to take a RT with the first overall pick, but this is a bad year to have the number 1 overall, no matter who we take. There's just no clear cut number one player, it's bad luck, but oh well, that's the way it is. I think we need to stop thinking about who's #1 overall worthy and decide who is the best player for the Dolphins.

Your insane. The first overall pick should be expected to make the pro bowl. And if he has had trouble with "speed" rushers in collage he is going to get his head handed to him (or our QB"s head handed to him) in the National Football League. I really don't see how you can say it would be OK to draft him #1 if you are accurate about your evaluation.
Please, stop with the "bad year to have #1 because if BP can't draft a multi year pro bowler withe the first pick we got the wrong guy for the job.

Baker and or Cherilus should fall to us and Nicks is pretty darn good as well.
Get 1 of these at #32

1. Jake Long, Michigan - LT
2. *Ryan Clady, Boise State - LT
3. Chris Williams, Vanderbilt - project, subpar for 2 years IMHO eventually LT
4. Sam Baker, USC - LT
5. Gosder Cherilus, Boston College - RT only
6. Carl Nicks, Nebraska - RT initially, maybe eventually LT
7. Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh - LT
8. *Anthony Collins, Kansas - RT only
9. John Grecco, Toledo - G, short arms

None of those LT's with the possible exception of Baker will be available at #32. Baker isn't quite physical enough for Parcells, and his injury history makes him a high risk pick ... but he's going to be good for a zone-blocking team.

Williams is going to get his QB hurt in his first season, and probably will not be "good" until his 3rd season IMHO.

Clady has mental lapses and would benefit from a strong-handed OL coach I think. His run blocking needs work but he's a legit good pass pro LT immediately.

Otah is rough around the edges and will improve with time, but he can play LT as a rookie and is a good run blocker too.

Cherilius and Nicks can be monster RT's, but Cherilius isn't ever going to be an LT, and Nicks is iffy on a number of levels.

CK is high on Greco, and I really hold his opinion in high regard, but on this player, we differ. I think Greco doesn't play as strong as he tests, and his short arms are going to make RT very tough for him. I see him finding his home at G.

But there's one more you've left out--Branden Albert--who is a bit of a projection moving from LG to LT, but he definitely has the athletic skill set needed to do it. He's probably going to need a year or two before he can start at LT because he's inexperienced at football (started his junior year in High School because he had always been an elite basketball prospect), and he's going to make the step up to the NFL and a position change. So, he's not an immediate starter IMHO, but he's going to be a good player who is strong at pass pro and run blocking. Frankly, I think Albert is a better prospect than Williams.
