Toub

I have also heard that Toub is a good coach from Bears Fans. Why worry about how many Dolphin fans don't know about him and have problems if they hire him. Everyone Knew about Fisher and thought he was the answer to every problem the Dolphins had. Well I guess they were shown that he didn't really feel that the Dolphins were everything to him and he didn't feel they were worthy of his coaching. Maybe it is time we find someone that hasn't been put on the pedestal of coaching and is ready to work for the team and to prove themselves not someone that interviews and feels that the world owes them.
With someone like Toub the question is can get a good staff. He would need both a good offensive and defensive coordinator and be able to communicate with everyone. If he were to be hired that would be the big issues.

What does a guy like Philbin or Zimmer have over him?

Fair question. I don't see anything there either to be honest with you. Both Zimmer and Billick are reportedly hot heads. And Marty Schottenheimer is to old. Philbin will get no respect in Miami because of his appearance in the fact of how much he looks like Lary Coker. There are really no experienced coaches out there other than Brian Billick and it seems he has no shot at it. On the otherhand given a choice I would look in Rob Chudzinsk and Pete Jr. But as you say, who knows for sure if they know how to be a head coach.

Because Schottenheimer is NOT a long term answer. And again he's an old retread who runs a prehistoric offense. He is not the younger and more energetic guy that we need for the long haul.

if his offense is prehistoric how come his last season his offense ranked 1st in scoring and 4th in total yards. 16th in passing yards and 2nd in rushing. In his 5 years in San diego his offense ranked no worse than 16th and finished in top 10 3 times. To put that in perspective our so called modern passing coach finished 23rd in passing offense. Its a misnomer to act like he doesnt run an offense that can be effective. Hate to tell people but cam Cameron was his OC and Wade Phillips was his Dc. Thats a great damn staff.
So his offense was Can Camerons not his . People are pretty ignorant of Mary Shotts history, not an insult but just a fact.

You don't become great by playing it safe. You have to take chances and break out of the norm. If Ross and Ireland have a feeling that this is their guy, by all means do it. F*ck what the fans think, they're going to rip on you regardless of what you do...

Well said Bro, well said.

And yet we are the only team to interview him for a head coaching job and Andy reid has never tried to hire him in higher position

He was under contract with the Bears who could deny any interview unless for the HC position and they also put a 2 week exception on him being hired by anyone else, so yes despite your lack of not knowing who he is the man is respected.

His San Diego team was loaded and they were still out early in the play offs. I still am suspect of his offensive approach in todays football. How does he feel about the importance of a top quarterback in todays football? Who would his staff be? I dont know how you can say he would be a great choice without knowing the answer to these questions. His age is a factor. Not trying to be argumentive>

What I take from the Jeff Fisher thing is that Ross is not willing to hand over the keys to his football world to one guy; A guy who was fired from his job last season. HC's should stick to baking the cake and let the GM stick to buying the groceries. Ross said "Stay in your lane Fisher!", and I agree with him.

Oh, you mean the same guy who was fired because he had a huge falling out with Bud Adams over Vince Young, an argument in which Fisher was ultimately proved RIGHT? Yeah, those guys are bums.

Bowles has been assistant head coach and you stil think he needs to prove something before becoming head coach...

Meatball was also an assistant head coach in Dallas. Yeah, Bowles still has something to prove.

NUB:

i have to agree. wasnt real thrilled at first, but the more i read about him and see some video, i really like him. i like his demeanor, he is a hi energy guy.

not an arm waving rah-rah ranter, but a productive coach who can teach. and thats the big part, enthusiasm and ability to teach.

i dont get the zimmer buzz at all. one game doesnt make a coach but he failed miserably in the bengals playoff game and the bengals big success came from the offense upswing with there new qb. what exactly is the "mike zimmer" defense? i like guys who hang there hat on something. a calling card, a philosophy. TOUB has his stamp on special teams.

and those kind of coaches bring in guys like them who can teach and love the game and are productive!!

TOUB is my choice right now if were going coordinator. he is in the middle with s-teams and wont favor offense or defense in the draft. he will get what we NEED for the team with no bias.

plus, toub is not a kid like todd bowles. he isnt a geezer either and that means he will command respect as a mature man.

dave toub looks real good right now. bill cowher was an s-team coach and he turned out ok.

when i read that ross now favors YOUNG hungry coaches my mind imediately went TODD BOWLES. here it comes. and i am sick that this is going to happen. i am holding out with hope, but i smell it. and i dont like it!!! the young part aced it for me and he is priming the masses, chumming the water with his "well, as i said, i like young hungry coaches" while introducing todd bolwes as the dolphins head coach.

DAVE TOUB! i'm with ya NUB.

I'm really getting sick and tired of this selective-quotation crap. Cowher may have been a special-teams coach, but he STILL had to prove himself as a defensive coordinator for 2 seasons before the Steelers came calling. What has Toub done to suggest that he isn't another ST lifer like Westhoff?
