Toub

F*ck what the media and fans think. It wouldn't matter if Bill Belicheck himself quit the Patriots, became our head coach, cloned a 1984 version of Dan Marino, and won 10 consecutive Superbowls. The fans and media would rip on this team because they didn't do that a year earlier. This is a fan base that is perpetually miserable. Also, for whatever reason, the media LOVES to portray Ireland and Ross in the worst possible light, deserved or not. It's truly a damned if you do, damned if you don't thing.

I say hire the guy. If he starts winning, games are going to sell. If he got Fisher, he'd have higher ticket sales the first few games, but people would stop coming after we lost a few. Ticket sales are going to reflect the record of the team, popularity of the coach is irrelevant. If he wins, tickets will sell...

Hey, you're preaching to the choir Locke. If we had hired Fisher, they would've found a way to rip that apart too, saying Ross was too desperate and on and on. We didn't get Fisher, so now Ross is a loser, and Ireland is the ultimate stooge, of course. Toub or Zimmer- I'd be fine with either at this point. Zimmer has a great track record that's pretty well known, and I've yet to hear anyone say anything bad about Toub- he seems to have the respect of a lot of well-respected and credible NFL people. So I'm willing to take a chance on one of these guys, or Chudzinski.

Agreed. With the recent track record of young coaches having success, I think we have to go that route...

Toub is not a sexy hire and will not sell more tickets. Ross won't win with his introductory press conference and it is likely the casual Dolphins fan won't know who he is. It will likely cause initial backlash from some fans and probably even some media members. But the fans who know him best, Bears fans, love him and actually were calling for the Bears to replace Lovie Smith in 2010 with Toub. The people he has worked with praise him.

Toub has seemingly demonstrated good qualities which has earned positive endorsements from solid football people. Why not give him serious consideration.

The endorsements of Toub are very intriguing.
I have only a couple issues with him.
1. Can he assemble a staff? He has only been with two NFL programs and does he have the connections to bring in good coordinators.

Why?
His only job in the NFL was special teams.
He was a D line coordinator in college for two years at Missouri.
Thats it.
Can he run an offense?
Can he run a defense?

This guy is going to need solid coordinators.
Now if you don't lose Bowles to a head coaching gig then the fins could simply elevate him to DC which would be a raise.

Who is going to run the offense? Daboll? Dorell? Bring in someone from outside? Martz(because of the Chicago connection)?

the only way i believe any rumors any more is if i heard it from Jesus himself

I still prefer Zimmer, but I admit I'm not all that familiar of Toub. II would prefer Toub to Sherman, who some say we will likely interview

Agreed. As I said to some friends, Miami could win 17 Super Bowls in a row and people on this site would be whining about how the season of Super Bowl #8 the QB overthrew the TE or a bubble screen was called on 2nd & 3.

I love how people act like fans complain about the fins for no reason. Have you been hibernating for a while. 4 losing seasons out of last 5, no playoff win since 1999. 2 times in playoffs in last decade. Yea those fans are way too fickle, they shouldnt be saying negative things about the fins. I can remember when Shula was here we may not have been always been in pure agreement about how things were done but fans definately complained much less because they felt like we had an actual shot. My dissatisfaction with the fins began with their handling of Dan MArino and Don Shula and became quite apparent when we keep neglecting to upgrade the qb position with Fielder. We support our team through a variety of monetary and emotional ways so we damn sure have a right to voice our displeasure with our currently losing franchise.

Yea why complain I mean its only been about 40 years since our last championship lol

He might not get the job, but he would probably be my choice now that Fisher went to the Rams.

Why? What makes him ready, what has he done? Not much as far as I can see but I don't know anything other then what I see written.
