Trade for Booker

Jimmy James said:
Your belief is wrong. He was unhappy to be away from his family, and he was unhappy that he was betrayed by the Bears. Marty Booker was the type of player before the trade who would rework his deal or take a little less in a deal to stay a Bear for life. Don't dare mistake that laudible sort of loyalty for disloyalty to the Dolphins. If the team shows him that they can be trusted (by not shopping him for one), he'll be that same player for us. As it is, he did very well on the field for the chaotic situation he was brought into.

I agree. If you recall, the Bears were offering David Terrell, not Booker. The Dolphins preferred Booker.
He is an experienced, veteran receiver which complements the athleticism of Chambers very well. He has good size, good hands and knows how to get open . The latter cannot be over stated.

another reason I wouldn't trade Booker right now is that he's signed to a decent contract throught 2008 with extra bonus having to be paid out by us (it's something like 2.9 mill straight thru to '08).

Couple that with Chambers being signed thru 2009 and we've got our 2 starting WR locked up to decent contracts for the next 4 years. It allows us to NOT have to go out looking for anything in an overpriced FA market at the WR spot....we can just sit back and draft players ,if we feel the need, at that spot.

Of coure 2.9 mill isn't cheap either but I think guys like Booker, Reggie Howard, AJ (who's contract blows up into the millions starting next year) and even Jeno and Mare who all have long term contracts, will have this season only to prove their worth they're contracts. Otherwise the new front office, led by Saban, will do some cutting and\trading of those guys and go with cheaper versions. I believe that Booker will prove he's worth that contract this year. Howard, Mare and AJ I'm not as sure about as I once was. We shall see.

What would you think of a trade to Philly for a 2nd and a cond pick or a player and a 2nd!

If Boston and Thompson pan out. It would be ok.
I'd say Philly would be interested in taking a flyer on Boston, since he would not cost a lot & his contract is friendly.

he also is a good downfield blocker.
