So we used a #3 to cover Gronk? I would say that makes our expectations for a #3 pick extremely low.

I have not seen anything from Jordan which would have justified a #3 pick. Period. But then again: we can always wait 5 or 6 years.....
 
some of you people are delusional. he covered gronk for like 1 or 2 plays and now hes great in coverage? we had trouble all year with te's but i guess the coaches were too stupid to put dion sanders, i mean jordan in there to cover te's? and why is he a freakish athlete because he ran a 4.6? anyone who says he didnt look slow off the snap is blind or in denial. i really would have loved to seen that 4.6 where it really counted...like on the field during a game.

I don't think expecting him to start over Derrick Shelby as the third pick is an unreasonable expectation

Expecting him to start over Shelby is not unreasonable. But because of how well Shelby played, its not nothing to cause a hissy fit over. He wasnt in a great scenario like Jason Taylor to be thrown into the fire. Actually we played surprisingly better than I expected last year at defensive end. Last year this time some of you were so disappointed in Vernon and wanted a replacement after his rookie year. Now we doing the same overreacting on Jordan. Defensive End was the least of our worries. Im hoping we can have a rotation of DE like we had with Jason Taylor, Tracey Armstrong, Kenny Mixon and Lorenzo Bromell again.

IMO it was another one of those Ireland trying to be the smartest guy in the room moves. Reached for a rotational player with shoulder problems because he fell in love with his edge speed. The inevitable Jason Taylor comparisons reigned down at the time, but from all indications he doesn't put in the time like JT did.

It's different? I don't see it. We will cheer for someone one day and love what we have done, to only kill the player and turn against them when we get the slightest info they MIGHT not live up to expectations. Alberts is Jordan......... last season. How many years one is in the league has very little to do with it. Last season we drafted Jordan with a lot of expectations. He didn't live up to expectations and we are killing him. Alberts is coming in with a lot of love and expectations. If he doesn't live up to expectations, we'll kill him too. It may be worse because he has been in the league for years but, a killing will take place no matter what.
 
If we trade Jordan I can guarantee it will be another Wes Welker regret.. Just have the wait and see approach and all doubters will have changed their tune..

Take a look at some of his coverage in college, which was mainly in a short zone. It's not just his speed, it's his quickness, burst and overall athletic ability, his ability to play in space. He struggles as a DE fighting against 300 plus Tackles, that's his weakness and why I think he should be a versatile OLB/DE type, a post modern AJ Duhe. You might not like how infrequently the coaches have used him in pass defense, I don't like to see him struggle against huge OTs with his lanky frame, but the guy is a fantastic athlete. I think at least that much is clear.

In today's NFL the best TE's are seam threats. I'm curious as to how Jordan's experience in college dropping back in a short zone will help that.
 
Consider instead trading Vernon for a good RT and starting Jordan in his place.

Mainly short zone, but he did more than just that in pass coverage at Oregon. Watch some film of him at Oregon covering out wide. His height, speed, quicks and fluidity in space are tailor made to cover NFL TE's in deeper patterns. What he did against Gronkowski last year in coverage is just a sample of what he can do if he's used right.

I could easily trade Jordan! If someone came along and gave me a 1st for him I would probably take it especially if it helped the team more! But problem right now is you probably wouldnt get a first and if you did you definitely wouldnt get what you gave for the guy unless your last name was Ireland!

According to this, http://overthecap.com/calculator/?Team=Dolphins, the cap hit is $5.3 million. But even if it's that low, it's still very difficult to do. Of course, if he really was like Jason Taylor, this conversation would never happen.
