I dont know what youre talkin about.Madison is a decent cb who makes alot of open field tackles and barely misses them. Not many other cbs tackle like madison.Wait till the draft next year.So much depth at qb.We could even pick up chris leak as a secound rounder.

you gotta be kiddin me, madison is known on the team for his poor tackling ability.

His play has dropped significantly.Zero interceptions last year!.................Sam hasn't tackled anyone yet on running plays and of the few big running plays against us during preseason, guess who they're running at? ....................................... Madison has trade value
Where is the trade value after saying all that?

The only position that we have a tradable depth is at RB and, as this off season showed us, RB just don't have that high of a trade value this season.

The most effective way to address the QB problem is through the draft. It's a little late in the process to bring a young QB in and have him tansition to our sytem in a reasonable amount of time and a vet QB, who would also have to learn the system, would probably kill our cap.

For all intent and purposes, we are stuck with what we have for now.

Qb In Next Years Draft.
Why? Most will simply bashing him & toss him into the scrap heap the moment he does not set the world on fire.

Had Miami drafted Alex Smith this year, some would have already declared him a bust.

We traded our best CB (Surtain) because we had Poole who then tore his ACL. Essentially, we had nothing there until the draft. With Saban's defensive schemes, Madison makes 6-7 million a year and is replaceable. :rofl3: He has trade value. Rivers for Madison? Staying with the qb tandem we have is essentially saying: "wait 'til next year."

Madison certainly has less trade value than Surtain did....and we only got a little less than a 2nd rounder for him.

So, what makes you think that the Chargers would be willing to give up their 1st round QB, who is supposedly the future of their franchise, for a CB worth less than a 2nd round pick?

Now, if you want to talk about QBs that can actually be had for a 2nd rounder.....there is always AJ Feeley.....wait :smackhead

For years, Madison was one of the league's better locked down (one on one ) corners. His play has dropped significantly (but not his salary). Zero interceptions last year! With Saban's defensive emphasis on zone coverage and run support, Madison is really getting exposed. Sam hasn't tackled anyone yet on running plays and of the few big running plays against us during preseason, guess who they're running at? When Denver and their vaunted running game comes to town, we can only pray for 90 degree weather & 90% humidity. Obviously, Sam can still play and would be a great pickup for the right defense, but our quarterback situation is arguably the worst in the league. Rather than speculate, (ad nauseum) Feely or Frerotte. Nick this team needs a Quarterback!:D Madison has trade value. :yell: Let's do it, Nick.

Yeah I have Dungy on the phone and he is chomping at the bit to send Peyton over here for a overaged, overpaid, cover corner. :shakeno:

I agree, we are not giving Gus a fair chance.;)

As much as Madison pisses me off by tackling so poorly, we`ve got nothing after him. Nobody is going to give up anything lower than a mid rounder for him.

And what makes you think Madison is tradeable now? A big contract, declining skills, and old. You can't just trade a player like that for a QB who is better than Frerrotte/Feeley.

exactly!

I knew the voice of REASON would show up in this thread...

Yeah, lets do it!

Wait... don't we take a cap hit to trade him? Isn't it pretty big? Aww hell... it's worth it, after all his tackling is HORRIBLE. So we go 4-5 million over the cap. Just cut Feeley and Frerrote to save 1.1 million, we've got a nice new QB after all. Ok... just 3.9 million left. Cut Larry Chester and that takes us down to 3.3 million. Depth? What do you need that for?! WE'VE GOT A NEW QB!!!!!!!!111111oneoneone.

Ok... we're getting desparate now... we've got to cut people who are going to kill our cap next year.... but hell it gets us under this year, no? Cut Reggie Howard and save 2.25 million. Down to 1.5 million now, things are getting better! Cut Seau and save 1 million. Sorry Vonnie Holliday... we love you but we need the cap room... We save 600k, and that leaves us 100k under. Phew!

Ok... wait, what do you mean we have to pay that new QB we just aquired?!

So that leaves us with crap for depth, not to mention that we've got Travis Daniels and Mario Edwards starting for us at CB. How well does Mario Edwards tackle? I'm willing to bet no better than Madison. Who do we cut to make cap room for the QB we traded for? Might as well be Jason Taylor... seeing as we're screwed for the next 10 years anyway.

Go go "I dislike this player so that must mean we can cut/trade him with no ill effects" threads!

Wait a sec.... Dave, is that you?

trading sam would be stupid, ask wash, who now has a poo-poo of a secondary, after letting champ and smootie go...(well trading champ)...who..which qb do you want? i'd rather hold up a bit, and sign rohan after the patsies cut him, or pick him up next year when he is a free agent...f next years pick...i want to win now...not in 4-5 years..
