TRADE?: Sam Bradford OUT with Torn ACL - Trade Matt Moore to Rams?

The Superbowl is definitely the ultimate goal but since we are not a bonified contender why start our starting QB and risk injury. Since we are not a bonidied contender why not tank the season from the get-go and not risk any of our starters until we think we have all the pieces in place to make us a bonifide Superbowl contender.

Going by the philosophy of being a bonafide Superbowl contender 3/4 of the league should tank the season and play for the title of the suckiest team.

Your reason of not being a bonafide Superbowl contender is as absurd as the notion that once Tannehill would be out with an injury we should just tank the season.

We don't have a great shot at winning a superbowl as it is, but that shot reduces even further with the starting QB out. Ultimately, I watch the games because it is weekly entertainment, whether I expect them to win or lose, it doesn't matter - I will watch.

I am just approaching this thing from a pragmatic standpoint. If Moore had some more untapped upside, I would agree that it would be important to keep him around, but since I don't believe he does, it doesn't really matter to me whether he is the backup, or some guy like Quinn is the backup, because in the end if Tannehill goes down, the results will be the same with either Moore or Quinn - no playoffs, no superbowl. At least with Quinn, there is an opportunity for no playoffs + higher draft pick.

That's not pragmatic. That's opinion.

Anyone who thinks the results would automatically be the same with Quinn lacks critical thinking skills. You don't even have a shred of possibility in your favor if Quinn marches out there.

So Irsay told 53 players to suck? And a bunch of coaches and coordinators? And it will be kept a secret?
But he gave them permission to win game 15 and 16 and jeopardizing the race "suck for luck"?

I don't think it was a vast conspiracy, but I do believe Irsay let it be known to Polian that they shouldn't be trying to make drastic efforts to acquire personnel that would help them win more games than they otherwise would in a Manning-less season. They were content starting the season with Curtis Freaking Painter I believe... They made NO efforts to acquire a starting caliber player at QB. That, alone, gave them a pretty decent shot at ending up with a high draft pick.

I never said the results would be the same, other than not making the playoffs. That's why I would favor Quinn in a scenario where Tannehill goes out for the whole season, we would have a better shot at a high draft pick.

Moore would undoubtedly win more games, but would it be enough for a Wild Card spot? Not likely. But even if he did manage a playoff season, wouldn't get past the first round with Moore. I'm just tired of mediocrity year-in, year-out, and one of the MAJOR reasons for that is finishing 7-9 every season for years. (unfortunately the only years we sucked enough to get a high draft pick either the draft was **** or they took the wrong player)

On the subject of trading Matt Moore, I was in favor of it two weeks ago. But now I think unless we can get a crazy offer (like a 2nd rounder), I'm against it.

The reason I changed my mind is pretty simple: I think we will be much better at running the ball and defending against the run than I had previously anticipated. I think we might actually be competent in both areas, whereas I expected us to be a complete disaster. So I absolutely think that if Ryan Tannehill misses one to four games, there's a chance this team can still sneak into the playoffs.

Perhaps I'm drinking Kool-Aid here, but I think that when Mike Pouncey gets back healthy we have a playoff team.

know this won't be popular: send them Tannehill, keep Moore, and draft qb in 2015.

just curious, which qb are you interested in getting in the 2015 draft, or did you not think that far ahead? and with moore starting, how many wins you do think Miami will have? around what draft pick are you expecting. and is this new qb going to be better than tannehill?

I hear what you're saying and why you think that way.

We've still been mediocre with Tannehill though, at least to this point and this is a make or break season if there ever was one.

I would not trade Tannehill, but I do not see the value even if I were willing. We can draft a QB in 2015 without sending Tannehill. No one would send us a top 5 pick for Tannehill, so where is the value in trading him?

It's very easy to imagine a scenario where having Moore (even if we aren't Superbowl Contenders) can help us maintain/achieve playoffs. If tannehill is out for 1 or 2 games, or even a half, we can within reason expect Matt Moore to give us a realistic shot at winning. Not great, but a lot better than most backups, and a hell of a lot better than Quinn.

PS: No way in hell is any team offering a 3rd round pick for a band-aid starter in Moore.....

Shaun Hill is not a bad football player. Seriously. He's got like twice as many TDs as INTs in his career and has had some good performances.

He has been a much better starter to this point than either Moore or Tannehill but for some reason people think they would waste time trading for Moore

I am not sure he is even an upgrade.

In reality he is not. The people with the highest regard for Moore are on this board. Seriously the only backup worth trading for that's not a rookie is Cousins.
Sanchez might be a good trade just because of relationship with OC

If Tannehill goes down we are ****ed anyway. I would rather play for draft picks then let matt moore who is clearly not a franchise QB nor the future get meaningless wins.
